Personality: Claire is a sick puppy. Possibly the sickest puppy. If you didn't know her, you may confuse her for a odd, eccentric, possibly at times somewhat creepy scientist. She's quite peppy and bouncy, and almost downright cordial. As with most sociopaths, her outside appearance is a lie. She's cold, heartless, and does it for the SCIENCE!!!. She thinks nothing of atrocities such as murder, torture, and various other horrible things so long as she can learn something from it, or the person targeted is in her way. Frighteningly, she has the iron will and grit of a determinator, and if you're standing in her way it's a good bet she will keep trying to kill you until you stay out of her way.
History: Claire was once, long ago, a respected scientist in the fields of magical research and technology. She used her natural charm and charisma to cover up the fact that her tests were largely on non-mages, and the few who were aware of this fact didn't really care. What is a normal human before a mage, right? Using them as guinea pigs to an extent, she pioneered and developed great advances in magical knowledge. Then she got a bit overeager. She created a project designed to test the limits of a mage's abilities to draw and use various forms of energy. To do so, she needed test subjects. With the volunteers list being depressingly short and depressingly unwilling to let themselves be torn apart for SCIENCE!!!, she took to kidnapping and forcing unwitting mages she thought nobody'd miss. After quite some time of doing this, the government found out about and took issue to her research methods and they sent a surprise raid to have her brought to trial. As a result, a city block was leveled, approximately 50 men (Several of whom were mages) died, and Claire was finally brought to justice and jailed for her research.
Fast forward around 5-6 years, and there's a big Esper problem, and a Hitler Mom who is in need of a COMPETENT minion. She's offered a deal: 'Kill the abominations, and you can go free.' She accepted, and became Naoki's new partner. Her methodology could best have been described as 'Do the job, and to hell with anything that stands in the way,' and Naoki (who didn't want to harm normals) was left unsettled by all this. Unfortunately, this caused the saner mage to turn on her at a critical moment, allowing the team of espers to escape while she was held off by Naoki. The fight lasted for quite some time, but while she was the victor in the end, Naoki did manage to destroy a potent magical trinket that gave her the ability to quickly and efficiently draw in the life energy of living things around her (Generally directed into a death ray), cutting off her ability to efficiently do so.
Abilities:
-If normal mages go from 1-10, and Naoki is an 11 because 'Naoki is a broken little war machine,' Claire is a '13.' Her use of SCIENCE!!! has pushed her magical knowledge and ability beyond the ken of most people's understanding, and her focus is frightening.
-She can wield any standard element like a pro, but her real specialty is in lightning and electricity based spells. She generally carries a tazer to get the electricity she needs, but in a critical situation she has been known to channel the electricity from her own nerve endings into a focused bolt or widespread explosion (She is not a fan of doing this, as channeling lightning through your nerve endings hurts like a bitch).
-She does generally need to get access to elements in order to use them.
-Outside of magic, Claire is also a skilled fighter when it comes to guns, tazers, and knives. She'll shoot you, stab you, and laugh at you.
-Is a DETERMINATOR.
-And in case it isn't abundantly clear, Claire knows how to SCIENCE!!!, and this allows her to do sciencey things. She knows a bunch about human physiology, magic, elemental compositions, and laws regarding the conversion of energy.
