Restoring a well used camping area preserves the space for future generations. It seems like a bit of patience and respect is in order. If this beautiful place is shut down for good, we all lose.
Nomad View is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever camped- sunsets, sunrises, nature and fresh air. Love it!!

It’s still nice but now every site is across the road from the cliffs edge. I like the old way much better. It’s still a nice place to stay awhile (we’ll be here 5 to 6 days) you’re allowed 14 days.

We arrived late afternoon and found a spot north of the twin antennas. The evening views were stunning to say the least. We highly recommend this location if it is your first time to boondock, (it was ours). Fill up our fresh water in Wall. It rained on us our last day.

Accessing the site was manageable — we entered via the Twin Towers entrance on the left. At the fork, there are a few back-in sites to the right, while most of the spots are to the left. Don’t expect a perfectly level site — we had to raise one side of our rig by 7 inches to get close to level.
The gravel road in is somewhat rough in places but still passable. We experienced a severe storm during our stay, with extremely strong winds gusting up to 60 mph.
Flies were a major nuisance, likely due to the abundance of cow patties in the area — and yes, they bite — which made it difficult to enjoy sitting outside. That said, the views are beautiful, and the location is very convenient to both the South Unit entrance of Badlands National Park and the town of Wall.

We stayed in the north end, which Campendium calls Steer Pasture, but we walked to the end of the road into what Campendium calls Nomad View. When you pull into this area from the Hwy the road “T’s”, if you go right the sites are number 1-12 and they are very defined sites with a loop at the end for a turn-a-round. In that loop they are building pit toilets. If I were to guess, since these sites are numbered and they will have a pit toilet . . . There may be, eventually, a fee charged. All of the other areas north of there into the Steer Pasture dispersed are all marked where to camp, but don’t have numbers on the pole yet. A Sheriff was cruising through both areas moving people parked illegally which means “no camping” along the rim anymore.

While you're in the area, don't miss Sheep Mountain Table; it is located between the North and South parts of Badlands National Park. The views are amazing.
