I began creating my signature style of drawing roughly somewhere in grade twelve, many years ago. One day I was doodling in my sketchbook and by random chance, I came up with a shape design not unlike the ones I create today. From that moment onwards, I have developed and refined this particular style, which I’ve dubbed Surreal Shapism, into what you see today.
A common question I get asked is “do you ever plan ahead what you are going to draw?” I find that planning anything ruins the fun of the final product. When I sit down to begin a piece, I put the pen on the paper and just let it flow across the page, meditative style. I often ‘space out’ when drawing and thus can spend hours just getting lost in the fine details of a particular piece. Often I am surprised at the end result, as it is nothing I anticipated from the beginning.
In addition to selling my own original artworks, I am adding a whole design element around my creations, such as transferring them to t-shirts and even puzzle boxes. This is where Space Kitten Design comes into play – as a front to showcase and bring my designs to the world. Don’t be shy, you know you want them.
I've also started an exciting expansion into the world of Street Art. I think my designs translate well to the medium, and I am very motivated to plaster them anywhere I can find!
I am also accepting commissions, large and small. Just send me a message here or contact me at www.spacekittendesign.com
When not drawing, I enjoy playing drums and electric violin, as well as indulging my slight obsession with pirates.
