Valentines Day: a story of connection

Every February 14, the community fills with hearts, glances, tenderness and passion. Yet behind the tradition lies a much older story. Valentine’s Day is usually linked to Valentin de Terni, a 3rd century priest said to have performed secret marriages despite the ban of the emperor Claude II le Gothique. Executed on February 14, he gradually became the symbol of attachment stronger than prohibition. The date itself may even trace back to the Lupercales, ancient Roman celebrations connected to spring and fertility. Today, beyond romantic clichés, Valentine’s Day is above all an invitation to create around connection: love, friendship, distance, memory, passion, fragility. Themes that constantly flow through our galleries and fuel imagination. Whether your work speaks of warmth, fire or silence, it belongs here today. Happy Valentine’s Day to the whole community

Hello all, My “bestov” of the day goes to a photograph by Sebastian aka @xbastex that I had not noticed at the time. It now seems to be carried by the magic of the “hype badge” on DeviantArt’s front page, and I am genuinely pleased to see it there. This remarkable image is no stranger to recognition, as it also received a Daily Deviation awarded by Lukasz @burningmonk in 2021. A well-deserved distinction for a work of great mastery. This is photography of a very high standard. Not only black and white, not only street photography, but first and foremost photography in the purest sense of the word, capable of appealing to all lovers of the medium. Thank you to Sebastian for sharing his art and his beautiful sensitivity with us. And to you, dear Deviants, do not deny yourselves the pleasure of visiting his gallery, or even his personal website. You will not be disappointed by the journey.

Repetitive images or works without real intent do not interest me, but in @Witzend77 's work I found true elegance and a clear artistic vision. I tried. Many times. For some reason they never get accepted. I'm a member of many DA groups and never had that problem elsewhere.

That does not mean you should advertise your work in the group's profile comments.

Groups on DA do not have the same rules with regard to submissions/ advertising on their profile page. Other groups you're a member of may allow it, but this one doesn't. Being a member of any group means respecting the rules of that group, whether or not those rules are unique to that group or similar to others.

Hope that clarifies the matter.

Please do not advertise your work in the group's profile comments, but submit them to the gallery. Any comment with an advertisement posted on the group's profile page will be flagged as spam.
