There was a warm breeze on her face, then nothing.Her eyes drifted open, almost squinting at the blazing light of an iron gate, thrown wide open as if beckoning her to step through. The day passes deep to the gloom of night, When the candles are lights on our horizons. Framed by fingertips-Watching as the sun rises in the perfect frame. As the sky weeps pink over our heads, I, too, shed silently my blight.For a swift moment I become radiant, A phoenix in the flame of the morn. Reborn amongst my painful, littered ashes.It only takes a moment to fall from my height To land in a useless heap of pungent memories. My thoughts crumble to dust In the wake of the heavy doubts I'm still carrying onwards and on.Watch my echo as it shifts From existence to simple fantasy. I'm standing between the lines That I made with my own hands- The same hands holding the chips.We realise our fruitful gains Once we lose them in foolery. My body is a vessel of peace; It waits for the sun to rise here, Blessing the child of my soul.Strewn on the grass spread-eagled, Eyes closed to the night. I bathe in the stars where I lay.The air is cool and sweet; My skin shivers, content to feel Detached from the mammoth world.The dawn caresses me with heat, And my fingers rise to the horizon- A blind man, watching the sunrise.I feel radiance wash the land, Waking the quiet and the still, With promises of a another smile.
