About us

Our purpose

We power life today and for future generations

That means we do more than provide electricity to our customers and communities. We’re listening so we can continue to better serve, better support and better build the future, together.

Who we are

Entergy generates, transmits and distributes electricity to power life for more than 3 million customers through our operating companies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. We’re focused on keeping costs for our customers as low as possible while providing reliable energy that our communities count on. We’re also investing in growth for the future with a more resilient, cleaner energy system that includes modern natural gas, nuclear and renewable energy generation. As a nationally recognized leader in sustainability and corporate citizenship, we deliver more than $100 million in economic benefits each year to the communities we serve through philanthropy, volunteerism and advocacy. Entergy is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has approximately 12,000 employees.

What we do

We exist to grow a world-class energy business that creates sustainable value for our four stakeholders — our customers, employees, communities and owners. This has been our mission for many years. We understood early on that to create real, sustainable value, the decisions we make and the strategies we pursue must benefit all stakeholders.

Our business

Utility operations

We’re growing our utility business by providing customers with clean, reliable electricity at a reasonable cost, superior service, a commitment to safety, operational excellence and an engaged workforce. Our electric utilities generate, transmit, distribute and sell electric power in a four-state service area that includes portions of Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana, including the city of New Orleans.

Entergy owns or operates approximately 24,000 megawatts of generating capacity and owns 16,100 circuit miles of interconnected high-voltage transmission lines. We also operate and maintain equipment along more than 107,000 circuit miles of distribution lines across our 91,000 square-mile service area.

Our customers are connected to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator power grid, which is a regional transmission organization responsible for administering the transmission systems of member utilities in 15 states stretching across the central region of the United States and Manitoba, Canada.

In July 2025, Entergy completed the sale of its natural gas distribution business that served Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana. The company completed in 2022 its multi-year strategy to exit the merchant nuclear power business, Entergy Wholesale Commodities.

Nuclear operations

We own and operate a fleet of nuclear reactors in four locations in the United States. Our fleet generates approximately 5,000 megawatts of clean, carbon-free nuclear power, which is critical in meeting our climate commitments to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Our nuclear fleet headquarters is located in Jackson, Mississippi.

The impact we make

We’re committed to strong shared values and supporting the communities where we live and work, all while celebrating the differences that make each one of us unique. We’re working to help build a better future for everyone, everywhere we live and work.

“We’re responsible for something greater than just delivering electricity. We provide an essential service that helps our customers and communities stay safe, healthy and continue to live their lives each day. We power life.”

Passing the line: How Entergy’s mentors turn experience into safer storm restoration

When the winter storm rolled through Entergy Louisiana’s service territory, customers may have noticed bucket trucks in the air and crews working long past sunset. What they likely didn’t notice was the quiet layer of mentorship happening alongside the restoration - seasoned Entergy veterans walking job sites, coaching younger crews and making sure every decision in the field was well grounded in safety and experience.
