Welcome to the insert credit show! We started this thing as a web site in 2001. It was&nbsp;a place for alternative writing about video games, strongly pushing the idea of video games as subjective art, where we tried to root out the odd niches and spaces between the cracks of the traditional game industry.We've always been of the mind that weirdos, opinion-havers, music-likers, and game appreciators were cool people, so long as they treated each other nice. Since that time a whole bunch of things happened in game journalism, and most of it wasn't our fault. We're here to make those things our fault again, in podcast form.&nbsp;Hello, I'm Brandon Sheffield, the co-founder of insert credit, and together with several very specific weirdos, we are doing video game opinions just for you. Who needs another podcast? First of all, I slightly resent your implication that this is "just another podcast," even though it is. I promise we offer *more* that just four people talking over each other (though we do have that).Here are some cool elements of our show: First, we have structure! We don't spend more than six minutes talking about any given topic, no matter how much we want to. Second, we have credits! Our panelists earn credits each episode, which we can use to extend topics, make others play games, ask questions, and other silly things. Third, we've got a cast of characters who are good at arguing with each other! Maybe you've enjoyed some of our other work. WHO ARE YOU?There's me, the person writing this, Brandon Sheffield. I used to run Game Developer magazine and was senior editor at Gamasutra.com, and am now an indie dev, working on projects like Street Fighter 30th, SNK 40th, Samurai Shodown Collection, and Indivsible, as well as my own projects with&nbsp;<a href="https://necrosoftgames.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Necrosoft Games</a>, like Demonschool, Gunhouse, Gunsport, and Oh, Deer! Then there's Frank Cifaldi, video game historian with the&nbsp;<a href="https://gamehistory.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Video Game History Foundation</a>, formerly of 1up and Gamasutra, who has also worked on a bunch of those curator games I mentioned, and some I didn't, like the Mega Man Legacy and Disney Afternoon collections. Ash Parrish, video game journalist at The Verge and formerly of Kotaku, is the most recent addition to our lineup, and brings a fresh perspective as well as an affinity for monsters that goes slightly beyond the usual. Last but not least (as he's the tallest among us), we have host Alex Jaffe. Jaffe likes lists! He likes comic books, and does podcasts about them. He's also good at keeping things moving on the show. As a bonus, sometimes our stalwart editor and Very Fun Person Esper Quinn jumps in. Consider yourself lucky when that happens!We all feel pretty differently about video games, and hanging out with us basically feels like hanging out with your *very smart* buds. Lastly, we invite a bunch of our cool friends on to the show as guests.WHAT DO I GET AS A PATRON!?We've just revamped our tiers to make them more interesting and more interactive. Gatcha Getter

For the price of a 7/10 video game you get everything from the prior tiers (no ads, question form, bonus eps, early gaidens, supporter badge, gatcha pull), plus:- Use your pulled gatcha characters to battle. Once every 6 months or so Jaffe will do a patron-only violence island battle royale on the patreon. Only in this tier can you use your pulled characters!- the insert credit soundtrack on bandcamp (you have to message us about this because there's no good way to deploy a bandcamp code automatically)- Jaffe will read your patreon username at the end of the show.

Friend of the show

In this, the ultimate tier, you get everything in the above tiers (no ads, question form, bonus eps, early gaidens, supporter badge, gatcha pull, soundtrack, battle royale event, credit in episode) plus:- brandon sheffield will write a list of 10 things for you, once per month. You can choose what things you want him to list, but be aware that if you try to stump him you might succeed. top 10 lesser-known new jack swing songs? top 10 low budget scifi films? top 10 genesis games released since 2010? You can also say "I like these X things, can you recommend me 10 others I might not have heard of?" etc. The possibilities are (figuratively) endless!- access to an exclusive (participatory, if desired!) virtual game night with ash parish once per month (the exact nature of this to be determined)
