Blood Microsampling (BµS) is an attractive alternative to venipuncture holding significant potential for the analysis of small biomolecules and metabolic profiling studies with applications in metabolic biomarker discovery and clinical diagnostics.

Our network has systematically studied the analysis of BµS metabolome using 10 healthy individuals sample set collected by Whatman cards, Capitainer B cards and Mitra by multiple labs and analytical platforms (LC-MS both HILIC and RP mode, GC-MS and CE-MS) across our consortium.

Results are published by Londono et al., Avella et al., Couacault et al. Thaitumu and Silva et al.

Based on these studies, we provide a consolidated database of metabolites consistently identified with high level of confidence across labs and platforms offering a comprehensive characterization of “dried blood microsample metabolome” in comparison to plasma.
