How Your Logo File Is Handled

The logo upload and stamp composition happen through browser file and canvas features. Stampy reads the selected file as a local image layer for this editor. This statement applies to the editing workflow, not to every request made by the rest of the website.

Local image input
PNG, JPEG, WebP, and SVG files are read in the browser and converted into an editor layer. The tool does not accept an arbitrary remote image URL, upload the logo to a cloud library, or promise cross-device access.
Browser draft
The logo page and general stamp maker save separate drafts in this browser. Switching between them does not overwrite the other design. Refresh to restore this page’s draft. If storage is full, the editor reports that it could not save; download important work before leaving. Clearing site data or changing devices removes access to these local drafts.
Your responsibility
The editor does not check trademark ownership, client approval, brand guidelines, or legal authority. Confirm that you can use the artwork and that the finished stamp is appropriate for its intended context.

How to Convert a Logo Into a Stamp in Three Steps

Treat the job as a small composition task: prepare a readable source, position it inside a stamp frame, and verify the exported file in its destination size.

  1. Prepare and upload the logo

    Choose the cleanest source you control. Transparent PNG or SVG artwork is usually the easiest starting point because it does not bring a white rectangle into the design. JPEG and WebP are also accepted, but their background remains part of the image. If the mark was photographed or scanned on paper, use the Stamp Image Cleaner first to isolate the useful color and download a transparent PNG. Keep the upload below 5 MB.

  2. Compose the mark, border, and wording

    Add the image as a layer, then move, scale, or rotate it until the visual center feels balanced. Leave breathing room between the logo and the border so the result does not look crowded when reduced. Choose a round or oval frame for compact marks and a rectangle or square when the logo is wide or needs more horizontal space. Edit the surrounding text to identify the team, studio, project, or internal purpose without implying an authority you do not have.

  3. Check small-size readability and download

    Zoom out and inspect the logo, border, and lettering as a single mark. Thin gaps may close, detailed gradients may become muddy, and long text may compete with the image. Download SVG when the receiving workflow benefits from scalable artwork, or use the 1600×1600 transparent PNG for software that expects a raster image. Open the downloaded file in the actual destination application and confirm transparency, scale, and visual alignment.

Choose SVG or Transparent PNG for a Logo Stamp

Both downloads preserve the complete stamp composition, including text, border, shapes, and the uploaded image layer. The better choice depends on what the destination software accepts and how the artwork will be resized.

SVG for scalable placement

SVG keeps the stamp frame and text as vector artwork and embeds the uploaded image layer in the file. It is useful when a design or layout tool supports SVG and you expect to resize the mark repeatedly.

  • Test the exported SVG in the destination software because support for embedded image data varies.
  • An embedded raster logo does not become a newly traced vector logo simply because the container is SVG.
  • Keep an original copy of the source logo; the stamp export is a composed result, not a brand master file.

PNG for transparent raster artwork

The editor renders a 1600×1600 PNG with transparency, which is convenient for documents, presentations, image editors, and other tools that accept PNG placement.

  • Transparency is preserved around the stamp artwork, but any white background inside the uploaded logo remains visible.
  • Resize proportionally in the destination application so circles do not become ovals and text is not distorted.
  • Inspect the mark at final size; a large source file does not guarantee that fine details remain legible when reduced.

Stampy exports digital artwork only. It does not test every third-party application, convert a white-background logo automatically, certify print production, or create a physical rubber stamp.

Use these practical cases to decide whether the input needs cleanup or whether the stamp composition needs more space. They are design examples, not customer claims or legal-use endorsements.

  • Transparent single-color logo

    Place a simple transparent mark in the center of a round stamp, then add short text around the edge. Keep the logo clear of the inner border and compare it at full size and thumbnail size. This is usually the most predictable input because there is no rectangular background competing with the frame.

    A white rectangle remains visible when that file is placed over the stamp. If that appearance is unwanted, process the image with the local Stamp Image Cleaner, choose the relevant ink color, adjust sensitivity, and download a transparent PNG before returning to the logo editor. Check edges after cleanup because very pale details may disappear.

  • Wide horizontal logo

    Wide horizontal logo

    Try a rectangle or oval canvas rather than shrinking the mark until it becomes unreadable. Reduce surrounding text, allow space near both sides, and avoid stretching the image. A wide mark can work well for an internal project label or document graphic when the composition respects its original aspect ratio.

  • Detailed or multi-color artwork

    Preview the design at the size where it will actually appear. Small counters, thin strokes, gradients, and closely spaced colors may merge. Consider using a simpler authorized variant of the logo rather than claiming the editor can automatically simplify it. Confirm sufficient contrast against the final document or background.

A clean preview is not proof of trademark permission, regulatory acceptance, or suitability for every printing and document workflow.
