Subhanallah….the nuance in the Qur’an is wondrous. Allah is not merely talking about rewarding our small and large good deeds respectively BUT He talks about His wish to reward us fully based on our BEST deed/s! Subhanallah when we strive to become better and better in predictable and unpredictable circumstances each day, we are blessed to end up doing a truly beloved deed to Allah. Now imagine all my deeds being valued based on that supreme deed: Subhanallah! Allah Akbar! Allahu Akbar!

The person who led the Salatul Isha recited this verse in the first rak‘ah, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since:

It made me reflect on what it truly means to fear Allah. It is easy to do what is right when people are watching. But what about when nobody sees? When there is no one to praise you, no one to correct you, and no one who even knows what you are doing? Allah sees.

And what really touched me is how Allah encourages us. He tells us that those who fear Him in the unseen will receive مغفرة ( forgiveness) and أجر كبير (a great reward). It is as though Allah is reminding us that the struggle to remain conscious of Him in private is not unnoticed. Every time we resist something b

Who do I call besides Allah? Who do I turn to in every difficulty before Him? A human being? A resource? The Ultimate King is stating a statement of fact: they do not own even a speck in the skies and the earth; they are not His partners or helpers. We do go to people for comfort and connection, and we do need resources, but not before Him. Allah is الأول Al Awal; He has to be the first we turn to in every difficulty or ease. Ya Allah! I know I have been failing to turn to you so often. Ya Allah! We keep trying to solve our problems on our own. I am sorry, Allah. Please make me among those whose first and last hope is you. who turn to you in every difficulty and ease. Ya Allah! You know

“I do not love things that set.”

This line for me is deeper than just its context in this Surah (as is Allah's way).

Everything 'sets.' It's temporary. People leave and change, happiness turns into sadness, what we like today we hate tomorrow, our feelings change, our tastes change, houses, cars, phones, relationships...EVERYTHING SETS. It looks bright and shiny for a while, and then it dulls.

So how can we attach ourselves to things that are temporary?

Do not say, 'This is my Lord!' to things in our lives in a way when we replace them with anything other than Allah? Take a beat, notice what it is that represents the star, sun, or moon in your life, and contemplate this ayah, inshaAl

My dear you did not observe the clouds so closely? For had you examined them closely you would have noticed how they move. You would have understood that Allah has the ability and power to move your troubles away.

Had you looked for a little longer, you would have seen that the clouds move and so does life. Nothing, remains forever not even your troubles.

Thus, I am encouraged to break into a smile thinking that perhaps it is our troubles that will bring about the sunshine. An everlasting sunshine.

There is no power or might except with Allah.

Reflecting on arrogance, Subhanallah. It may show up in miniscule ways. When we think of arrogance our mind may be drawn to the lavish display of arrogance as we see in movies, Netflix. But arrogance can show up in the small daily habits. How do we react when someone corrects us, how do we react when someone corrects us in public even if it's done respectfully. My takeaway is going to be let myself be corrected & practicing humility for the sake of Allah SWT, it may not be easy but it will be worth it Inshallah

Sa'eed ibn Mansoor recorded the following statement of al-Hasan al-Basri:

[قال الحسن البصري : إِنَّ هذا القرآن قَرَأَهُ عَبِيدٌ وَصِبْيَانٌ لم يَأْخُذُوهُ مِنْ أَوَّلِهِ ، ولا عِلْمَ لَهُمْ بِتَأْوِيلِهِ إِنَّ أَحَقَّ النَّاسِ بِهَذَا الْقُرْآنِ مَنْ رُئِيَ فِي عَمَلِهِ ، قال الله تبارك وتعالى : { كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الأَلْبَابِ} وإنما تَدَبُّرُ آياته اتِّبَاعُهُ بِعَمَلِهِ ، يقول أَحَدُهُمْ لصاحبه : تعال أُقَارِئْكَ ، والله ما كانت الْقُرَّاءُ تَفْعَلُ هذا والله ما هم بِالْقُرَّاءِ ، ولا الْوَرَعَةِ لا كَثَّرَ الله في الناس أمثالَهُمْ ، لا كَثَّرَ الله في النَّاس أمثالهم ]

Reflecting on Surat Al Duha has made me think about my expectations of what Iman really feels like.

I used to think that since Iman was having a firm belief and conviction about Allah ﷻ and about all His qualities and His perfection, it necessitated having a firm unshakeable connection to Him. So I used to think Iman would naturally mean feeling closeness to Allah ﷻ.

But then life happened, and I became conscious of a scary emotion — feeling distant from Allah ﷻ — and this I couldn't bear. Even if it happened occasionally, I would stop myself and ask myself why.

The distance became a scary thing to me. I questioned myself and my actions. Tried to do the things s

"Who answers the desperate one when He is called?” He asked it as a question; as if the answer wasn't already Him.

Perhaps because the question is meant to be repeated to our own hearts. And the heart answers: Of course. The Lord of the Worlds. Of the Heavens. Of whatever lies between and within.
