We were set on exploring the Ladd glacier area of Mount Hood from Barrett Spur, but ran into some 80+ mph winds that tempered our enthusiasm. On the positive side, free exfoliation! #mountaineering

Two for one! Playing with my new lens (Sony 100-400 f4-5.6), I came across a beautiful pair of herons: a great blue heron (left) and white egret (right). I guess I know where I'll be hanging out when not in the water...
A few days ago, I'd mentioned spotting a grunt sculpin (Rhamphocottus richardsonii) in its hidey hole, and that I'd never seen one in the open. Seems the day came! Spotted a few days ago, Hood Canal, in shallow water (maybe 10m?) under some kelp. What unique looking fish! #underwaterphotography #scuba
It's not Friday yet, but every day is #weloveslug day! I spotted this tiny opalescent #nudibranch among many of its juvenile brethren on lines laid deep (25m+) in Hood Canal last weekend. #underwaterphotography
Not a common sighting for me... I managed to get a head-on of this beautiful Dirona aurantia #nudibranch chomping on something delicious (I'm sure). #weloveslug These nudies seem to hang out a bit deeper (30+m), which suits me fine as Hood Canal has moved into summer mode where it's cloudy down to 20m. #macro #scuba
It's been a minute, but what hasn't changed is that #weloveslug! This egg-laying Tritonia festiva was at the usual depth and conditions where they're often found (25m in the strata, Hood Canal last friday). Now that Hood Canal is entering its summer state of algael blooms in mid-water, they're a bit harder to find and photos have more backscatter. Beautiful opalescent #nudibranch spotted at exactly 40m last night drained my no-deco time but was so worth it. 😍 Summer conditions at Hood Canal aren't great... From around 5--25 metre, depending on tides, the visibility is quite poor. Above and below still work out! #weloveslug #underwaterphotography
