I wrote the first thousand words of this while we were in the Lakes, and it's sort of dithered in my Scrivener ever since. Swoony romance, idk. And also an accident involving an e-bike, which was for a long time the only known feature of this story, plus a minor tour of Scottish folk music. I actually quite like it, I hope you do too.

The Wilding Time (8510 words) by Alethia
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Pitt (TV)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Jack Abbot/Michael "Robby" Robinavitch
Characters: Jack Abbot (The Pitt), Michael "Robby" Robinavitch
Additional Tags: Post-Season/Series 02, Sex Pollen, Canon-Typical Suicidal Ideation (The Pitt), Developing Relationship, Dubious Consent, Porn
Summary:

"Robby was pretty out of it when he got here, so we gave him fluids and stabilized him as best we could, but once he regained consciousness, he's been noncooperative. You're his sexual health contact, so I figured you could step in."

All the breath left Jack, the room going cold at one more shock to the system. "But—I'm his emergency contact," he tried, because maybe the kid had misunderstood. He and Robby had talked about being emergency contacts, of course. But a lot of people didn't even list sex contacts because they weren't commonly needed, so registration treated them as optional. Jack didn't have one. Robby had never said a word about that.

Which made sense because he and Jack weren't fucking like that.

Lifting the Veil (17404 words) by Alethia
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Pitt (TV)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Jack Abbot/Michael "Robby" Robinavitch

Additional Tags: Established Relationship, Developing Relationship, Canon-Typical Suicidal Ideation (The Pitt), Wedding Rings, Porn, robby's got some new tattoos, and now a new ring, Everyone Is Super Normal About It
Summary:

At the nods all around, Robby rubbed his hands together. "Great. Dr. Shen is going to walk residents through handoff. Before that, any questions?"

Santos raised her hand, but didn't wait to be called on: "Yeah, what's up with you wearing a wedding ring?"

It went off like a shot, a few gasps and mutters sounding out, Princess and Perlah leaning close, Jesse's eyebrows rising. Robby just stared at Santos for a silent beat, then turned to Shen. "Dr. Shen, if you'll start us off."

Ever unfazed, Shen simply bobbed his head. "Cool."

Come on, universe. If you're taking Dolly Parton and Tim Curry from us back-to-back, you've got to take an asshole for the third death to even it out.

And, I mean, if you want to stick with 80-year-olds...

RIP Dolly Parton

Jesus. 2026 keeps throwing the deaths at me that really fucking hurt, doesn't it?

I'm currently watching The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas in memory of her. It's one of those movies that I never should have been allowed to watch as a child, but I grew up on it because my parents had a sweet spot for it as they went to see it on one of their first dates. So rewatching it for the five thousandth time feels appropriate.

Some scammers managed to get hold of my debit card number last weekend and went on a spending spree with what money I had in my account. The bank is working on getting everything fixed, but they're still investigating the fraud claim, plus my new debit card hasn't arrived in the mail yet. I have a $200 bill due very soon, so I'm trying to raise money to put towards it in case the bank doesn't get this cleared up in the next 48 hours.

I am, uh. Quite embarrassed about this story. It’s 4000w of porn, only, because I’m me, it’s VERY SAD PORN. I told [personal profile] usuallyhats about it and she identified some more reasons why it would be sad, so it got even sadder and marginally more embarrassing. I hope someone who isn't me likes it.

After almost a decade of pretty much constant use, my electric kettle has officially died on me as of a few minutes ago. Unfortunately, I can't buy a new one until this whole mess with my debit card is fixed. Which is going to make caffeine consumption very difficult for the next few days at least. 🙃

I guess that I'm going to have to boil water water in the microwave or on a pan on the burner if I want tea. Or maybe I can force myself to drink coffee for a few days instead. I have some that I don't think is expired yet.

And, of course, this had to happen on the morning where I've been logged in to my work computer since 6am because of a major project going live today.

On the positive side, Amazon does still have the same make and model that I bought a decade ago. Plus it's still the exact same price it was back then ($20), so that's something at least.

ETA: Oh, this is hilarious. I looked it up, and I actually bought this kettle exactly nine years ago today. 8/19/2017. That's still not a bad run for a $20 one.

. . .

August has been a month, and it's barely halfway over. I'm very much counting down the days to September at this point. 🙃

Work's been ridiculous, but hopefully that will be coming to an end shortly. The big project I've been working on for, like, a year-and-a-half is finally going live tomorrow. I'm sure there's going to be a couple of days of chaos as we deal with things that don't go as expected, but it will be significantly calmer once it's over and done with.

D&D is going fairly well. My Sunday game has picked back up after a long hiatus while my Friday game has gone on a break because one of the players is having health issues, his wife obviously doesn't want to play if he's not, and a third player has been assigned night shifts recently. My Wednesday game continues to be the most stable of them, although it's been off the past two weeks because E&Z are traveling.

On the fannish front, I'm working on a fic for a Boostle fanzine, so that's fun. It's been a very long time since I participated in anything like that, but I'm quite enjoying it. Especially since it's a fandom that I've dipped in and out of for years but only occasionally write for.

I'm still one of the mods (albeit not one of the primary ones) of Black Emporium, the Dragon Age Rare Pair Exchange that was referenced in Veilguard, and I'm working on several fics for it. There's also a Dragon Age reverse bang happening that I'm working on a fic for, although I've thought of a fun twist that I want to run by the artist before I get too far into planning.

I'm also actively trying to work on various fic WIPs to try and finish some of the ones that have been sitting on my computer for literal years. We'll see how that goes over the course of the next few months.
