The number one gate team, Sheppard, Ford, Teyla and McKay has been established, and they go on their first reconnaissance mission, back to the site where the members of Atlantis expedition and the Athosians were held captive by the Wraith.
Only there is nothing there. Just a huge crater and a a handful of drones [the kind of Wraith that have a sort of a shell for a face].

The name of the episode comes from SG universe rule, that the stargate event horizon can only remain stable for that amount of time.

There's not much to say about this episode. It's mostly set in the aft-compartment of a jumper, Sheppard has an Iratus bug* stuck around his neck and the jumper is stuck half-way in the stagate event horizon.

*It's not called that here, they don't know the name yet, but Teyla tells them that it is a distant ancestor to the Wraith.

This episode mostly serves as an introduction to the bug and the Czech scientist Dr. Zelenka. And Dr. Kavanagh as a minor antagonist.

Oh boy, but Kavanagh is a piece of work. Weir busts him down in front of other scientists, for an entirely justified reason; he is more concerned about covering his own ass when making suggestions about how to handle the stuck puddlejumper -situation, than trying to figure out how to rescue all the people inside. They are on the clock, 38 minutes, and what does he do? He goes to complain to Weir about how she 'chopped off his privates', in front of his team even. Weir is furious, and orders him back to work.

Zelenka's and McKay's work, and Kavanagh's last minute idea save the day. And Ford gets to be a hero too.

McKay better start remembering Zelenka's name from here on.
