Mamma Mia, 2008 movie. I wanted to see how it compared to the stage musical. Similarly fun - I think the overall quality of the singing was probably higher in the stage musical, and the dance choreography was definitely more elaborate, but the character acting was stronger in the movie and I probably laughed more. Still did not cry but I did feel one genuine pang. I have heard the movie described as Hollywood getting together to do karaoke (which I suppose is also sort of what Moulin Rouge was) and, like, sure, I support that as a genre.
