Our story

Founded in Stockholm by two university friends, Scrive was initially created to simplify talent agreements for international performers in Sweden. After quickly recognising that there was a universal demand for effortless and reliable digital agreements, our journey expanded.

Our dedication to our customers’ needs is both the seed and the soil of our growth. It’s the foundation of our beginning and the reason we keep expanding and improving.

"If we hadn't worked with you guys on this, we would have been stuck with a process that wouldn't meet customer demand or expectations at all."

“Scrive makes my job so much easier! Having the ability to scale to a growing number of countries with one integration rather than having to work on a new integration for weeks or months for each eID is what makes me crazy about your product.”

  • What does Scrive mean?

Over the years, many people have assumed Scrive’s name is a play on the English word “scribe”, the term for someone who copies documents or writes things down.

The real story is a little different and a little funnier.

Scrive was originally called Skriva På – Swedish for signing off on, or writing on something. But when it was time to set up a website, the URL (www.skrivapa.se) caused some confusion. More than a few people read it as “Skriv Apa” or “Write Monkey”.

The misunderstanding was entertaining enough to inspire drawings of a hypothetical monkey mascot by Scrive employees. But in the end, the name was simplified to Scrive, avoiding confusion and making it easier for an international audience.
