    Olix is one of those companies which, if it works, will completely reshuffle the infrastructure needed for AI inference globally. Much deserved funding for @jamesdacombe and great to see the @UKSovereignAI fund continuing to take bold, orthogonal bets on British companies.

    Modern data centres require less water than leisure centres or restaurants - so it’s sad to see politicians spread conspiracy theories about them like this. I shared some of this data in an Economist article this week. However an even bigger issue is the sheer hypocrisy in the

    Govt planning c. 100 new data centres by early 2030s, mostly in water stressed areas - with no legal duty to disclose how much water they use. Meanwhile Govt launches £75m publicity campaign to urge us to reduce water use & privatised water companies waste 19% thro leaks. Madness

    I have alot of sympathy for UKRI who have to make hard funding decisions - but whether it's from them, local funds, or philanthropic and commercial efforts Jodrell Bank and The Lovell Telescope simply must be kept both operational and supported as a home for science. The
