How much of writing style is determined by a kind of bundling of what you've been exposed to? And can you mimic this with models that have seen as much text as AIs have? Also some people really just have weird writing styles that you only grow to appreciate over time. Unclear

Even when LLMs write well, the lack of variety in style is crippling. Reading the same prose in your instructions & social media & advertisements & software & PowerPoint eventually makes one queasy Prompting only gets you so far. Real variation is needed (and under-researched)

I've become so TPU-brained that I think in terms of per-tensor shardings, rather than communication collectives. I don't think this is a net positive, but I think it can be useful!

This rules - experimentation in how to communicate math and computer science is vastly underexplored. This reminds me of one the most interesting (and successful IMO) experiments in math thesis writing I've seen. theliberatedmathematician.com/wp-content/upl…

Hand painted artisanal science posters should be the new craze.

Doesn't this just mean that fewer apartments allow dogs, or try to provide shared amenities? There are junk fees worth scrapping but that word is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

Starting July 1, 2027, landlords in Seattle will be prohibited from charging tenants junk fees, including pet rent, mail fees, and common area charges. This is an important step towards making our city more affordable for renters. kuow.org/governing/2026…

Animal crossing is a game about the community benefits of offering low interest mortgages to first time homeowners.

One way of demonstrating the benefit of credit to the economy is that every economy building game would be totally broken by adding access to credit in the early game.
