    This is not true for medicine, obviously, but I can see numerous humanities/social science depts/majors dying out through attrition over the next two decades.

    It's been coasting on vibes rather than substance for a long time. Fewer and fewer interesting ideas come out of elite higher ed. Close to totally irrelevant on AI. And its vibes are increasingly bad too. Harvard/Stanford/Cambridge Inc etc is increasingly a depreciated brand.

    The 4yo asked many questions about clowns this morning on the way to school. Is the red nose their actual nose? Why do they paint around their mouths? After explaining how exaggerated features work in live theater, I asked him if he wanted *to be* a clown. His features shifted

    This is wild. I was an English Lit major at a small liberal arts school, and even the two post-colonial profs assigned actual English lit. I guess I was lucky that the Restoration drama track meant reading Dryden, Behn, Wycherley, and (unfortunately) Congreve, rather than Derrida
