If you're riding through UT Austin this fall, here's a heads up: Beginning Aug. 24, a new Pedestrian Friendly Zone will be in effect to improve safety. Riders of personal electric vehicles (such as e-scooters and e-bikes) should dismount and walk their wheels through this
Orange graphic: \"PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY ZONE\" takes effect Aug. 24. Icons show no electric scooters, one-wheel devices, e-bikes, or kick scooters. PEV users must dismount & walk their wheels in the zone.
A prohibition sign (orange circle with diagonal line) over an electric kick scooter and a lightning bolt. Next to it, text reads: 'PEVs ARE: Electric scooters, Electric bicycles, Electric boards - Skateboards, hoverboards, Onewheels, Segways'.
Text reads: Does not include ADA mobility devices. Electric wheelchairs and manually powered mobility aids may be ridden in the area and are not considered PEVs. A wheelchair icon with an orange checkmark indicates approval.
Orange circle with a white bicycle icon and orange checkmark. Text: 'Users of traditional bicycles and other self-powered wheeled devices may ride but are encouraged to go slowly in the zone.'

Water management has never been more complex. Researchers from @CockrellSchool developed a smarter system to decide where river sensors should go. The network could improve flood prediction, drought management and water monitoring without adding unnecessary equipment:
