Two things make self-hosting a model the right call: 1. your data legally can't leave your network 2. your traffic is high and steady enough to keep a GPU busy Both, not either. Teams starting out usually have neither.

A media portal doesn't have to mean Bloomberg. It can be a blog about local models, or the homelab you built in a closet. Either one can land on HN, and the traffic doesn't care that you're one person with a $5 server. Here's the layout that survives it:

k8s worker groups are editable now. Out of CPU or memory? Raise the plan on the existing group instead of building a new one and migrating into it. Want a custom spec? Switch from a preset to the configurator.
