I’m one of the Black professors on Kirk’s watchlist of professors he smeared and wanted to have fired. How is that doing things exactly the right way? Grieve his death, yes. But don’t whitewash his life.

Ezra got this one exactly right, and a lot of you are betraying a total inability to tell the difference between "this person went about the process of advocating for his beliefs in the right way" and "his beliefs are correct."

It says something profoundly disturbing about this country that the president of the United States of America repeatedly says deranged and disgusting things, and it often only registers a yawn.

I’m not going to repost the filth the president wrote about Maggie Haberman, but suffice it to say she’s a great person, beautiful inside and out, an incredible mom and wife and colleague, and an amazing journalist. The president’s comments are disgusting and beneath the office.

There are more than 6100 professors in that system. 75 are Black. Arday was one of 5 Black people at his level. That he was hired at all makes him an outlier, not representative of some larger issue. But he’s been treated as such anyway to demean Black academics.

If you just mean that claims were made that he was hired for his intersectional racial/ND identity despite not being up for the task & doing THAT undermines other black academics, I'd agree & so have many black academics at this point. That's part of the problem.
