Mett can't comprehend the reality of releasing software under an open-source license and having someone else be more successful with it than him. Yes, WP Engine may be used as a trademark too liberally, but the whole thing is just a meltdown of one person's ego.

Maybe I'm supposed to get mad at this, but instead I just get sad. Mullenweg clearly sees it as a failure to create much more value in the world than what you capture, and maybe that's the root of our differences. I see that as a proud achievement. ma.tt/2024/10/on-dhh/

It is funny how OS is heading into reality, where you will be scared to use it because of trademark laws. You can use it but not say its name like WTF.

This is antithetical to open source. An industry will struggle to use a piece of software if it can't recruit people who have experience with it.
