Anthropic used "safety" as a recruiting strategy the same way OpenAI did w/ "open source". Elon sued OpenAI for crimes he's himself committing at X AI at 1000x speed & scale relative to X's short lifespan. Same same. Different facades. Accelerating towards planetary suicide.

The biggest issue with whole brain emulation (HiFi/destructive) is the person being uploaded will never have the chance to audit their own digital clone. No one talks about this. We need alternative non-destructive approaches ... LoFi wbe + @gwern GAs are directionally good.

The deepest breakthrough of the AI safety space will come after we collectively realize that there's a ceiling to how intelligent an entity can be that is forcefully "aligned" by its lesser intelligent creators. We might need to wait for LoFi WBE to upgrade humanity to catch up
