Capitol police officer Eugene Goodman is rightfully being hailed as a hero after singlehandedly holding back rioters from entering the Senate chambers last week. An Iraq combat vet and member of this Corps, Eugene was a hero long before last Wednesday. We celebrate his valor.

In awe of our Sky Dragon Soldiers. This was an incredibly tough, pressurized mission filled with multiple complexities, with active threats the entire time. Our troops displayed grit, discipline and empathy. Below is a picture of the last Soldier to leave Afghanistan.

The Battle of Mogadishu ended 27 years ago this morning. These two men, Randy Shughart & Gary Gordon, became legends. When they learned ground forces weren't going to make it to the crash site, they volunteered to insert to try to save the pilot. Let's think of them today.

When Chris Harris was killed in Afghanistan, August 2017, his wife Brit was pregnant. The entire 82nd Airborne rallied around Britt and baby Christian Michelle, born March 17, 2018. Christian Michelle has Daddy's eyes and today we honor her, her Mom, and her Dad. #MemorialDay2021

We are investigating reports of a Soldier assigned to XVIII Airborne Corps allegedly making vile remarks on a social media video. The statement made in the video is completely inconsistent with our values. We will review all facts and take appropriate action.

This feels like the end of something. Edward Shames, the final living member of the Band of Brother, Easy Company, 506th, has left us. He died peacefully at home at 99. Ed jumped into Normandy, fought in some of WWII's most critical moments, was memorialized on the HBO show.

They died trying to bring desperate men, women, children, babies, and the elderly to safety. They represent the best of us.

158 years ago tonight (July 18, 1863), Sgt William Carney refused to let the US flag (symbol of Union Army) fall, despite being wounded 5 times during the 54th's charge against Fort Wagner. Born into slavery in Norfolk, Va in 1840, Carney was the first black American to earn MoH
