We provide weekly builds for all our installation media. You should use these,
unless you encounter problems and need to fallback to the official, tested snapshots.
There are 3 different kind of installation media Artix currently provides: base, graphical and community.
Unless you really know your way around Linux, use a graphical or community edition.
The base installation can be performed from within
any ISO;
this may prove useful to people who have trouble getting their wireless network cards to work or
for any reason need an active graphical environment during installation. You can even install a
different init system than that of the installation medium, if you go the
base way.

- Base ISOs allow for a fully customised installation, which is done in a TTY and is intended for knowledgeable users.
This is the recommended way of installing Artix and the team will be happy to support any issue.
An almost identical lowmem version found at the testing section below,
can boot and install on machines with as little as 300MB of RAM.
- Graphical installation images come with a slightly preconfigured desktop system (LXQt, LXDE, MATE, Cinnamon, KDE/Plasma, XFCE)
and a rudimentary set of applications: a file manager, media player (mpv), network manager, document viewer,
web browser and the calamares installer.
People afraid of the Linux terminal or in need of a quick, intuitive installation would want this ISO.
This is still a bare-bones installation and a lot of additional software is required for a satisfactory experience.
- ISOs marked as gremlins or testing contain testing features.
We utilize web seeds for our torrents. Any reasonably modern bittorrent client can use them and it is the fastest possible way to get our ISO images.
If for some reason you cannot or will not use a bittorrent client, please choose your nearest mirror to download the installation ISO.

0xB886B428. To verify an ISO after it is downloaded, get its signature and issue the following (the file names are given as examples):
gpg --auto-key-retrieve --verify artix-base-s6-20250214-x86_64.iso.sig artix-base-s6-20250214-x86_64.iso
(You may ignore the 'key is not certified with a trusted signature!' warning.)
The new online install option is still work-in-progress, users are advised to select 'Offline' when prompted.

Testing ISO images
Images in testing or experimental phase,
are posted for evaluation and feedback.
Gnome works, but as hard-dependent on systemd it is still considered testing.
The
lowmem ISO, intended mainly for server use (especially cheap 512MB VPS), is missing a few packages, most notably
linux-firmware, easily installable afterwards.
