Tanda sells all-in-one workforce software (Payroll + Rostering + HR), for $12.80 per user per month all inclusive. Dollar for dollar, it’s the best offering in the Australian market. Tanda’s software is built by our team in Brisbane. Off the shelf, it automates more complex modern award pay rules than any other product. It also works at scale. There are many 10,000+ staff count businesses on Tanda. Our support team is based in Brisbane. We don’t sub-licence our payroll product, all of our products were built by our team in-house. That means there’s less moving parts, it all works well together, and we can support all of our core product code ourselves without being beholden to third parties. But the main reason Tanda is able to vend software this cheap is we don’t spend any money on bus advertisements or suing people. We just put that money back into making and supporting software.

Fantastic to be in Sydney this week for Stripe Tour and to spend time with so many of our customers and partners across Australia and New Zealand. The conversations were inspiring, from ambitious founders to established platforms thinking about their next stage of growth. I also shared some of the data we're seeing across the Stripe network: 1️⃣ AI is scaling faster than any previous wave. Of the Forbes AI 50 that accept payments online, 100% build on Stripe. The fastest are reaching $5M ARR in nine months, with companies like Cursor hitting $500M in just two years. 2️⃣ Vertical SaaS is booming. Platforms like Xero and ServiceM8 are embedding payments and financing to drive growth for their users. Today, 10,000+ vertical SaaS platforms build on Stripe Connect. 3️⃣ Fintech momentum is accelerating. In 2025, Australians aged 50 and above make up nearly 25% of our workforce, yet 42% still experience age bias in hiring and promotion. Tech surges ahead as Australia’s top-earning sector Exclusive insights from the Employment Hero Jobs Report show tech and science workers earning ~$40,000 more a year than finance. Reskilling isn’t just a tech talent issue — it’s a gender equity issue. Ahead of a recent panel I joined for Holberton School Australia, alongside Eglantine Etiemble (PEXA, Tech Council of Australia) and Ingrid Russell (REA Group), I asked two women-in-tech communities — The F Factor and Tech Leading Ladies — a simple question: 👉 "What makes reskilling into tech actually accessible and appealing for women who are re-entering the workforce or shifting careers?" Their answers were generous, candid and aligned on five clear themes: 1. Flexibility isn’t optional 2. Confidence matters as much as content 3. Transferable skills are being overlooked 4. Family and care responsibilities are still invisible 5. Cost is a barrier too often ignored I’ve shared these insights — alongside data from the World Economic Forum and LinkedIn on where the workforce is heading (and who’s being left behind) — in a new piece on the Project F blog, The F Word. The NZ government and NZ tech cut their internal tech teams. Globally, things are broken AF. 🤦🏽‍♀️ 🚨 The problem? When the shit hits the fan, who fixes it? My topic was about developer trends I see and how increasingly communities are becoming important. Here are the key takeaways from my talk 👇🏽 - Developers are increasingly collaborating cross border despite regional nuances that's leading to create a community infrastructure that's enabling developer resilience - Programming is changing. Devs are increasing using AI tools so is usage of natural language. - Access to the internet is correlated with GDP of a country. The more connected the country is, the more opportunities it creates for developers driving growth in GDP when opportunity meets action. In all of the above communities are playing a major role acting as a change agent, a facilitator and a amplifier. I disagree — strongly — with this view shared in the The Australian Financial Review AI strategy does not belong in the tech function. We’ve seen this mistake before. HR once made it — putting DEI under HR when it should have sat with the CEO, if they truly believed it was a lever for business performance. AI is not an IT upgrade. It’s not infrastructure. It’s not tooling. It’s transformation — a fundamental shift in how value is created, how decisions are made, and how work gets done. It demands a seat at the top table — not because of the tech, but because of what it means for your operating model, talent strategy, risk profile, and culture. 🛑 The risks of putting AI under tech? You get a tools strategy, not a business strategy. Think models, vendors, platforms — not outcomes, capabilities, or behaviour change. You optimise for what’s possible, not what’s right. You miss the real unlock: people. The most powerful use of AI is in augmenting decision-making — for your people, not just your processes. That’s not a tech-led conversation. ✅ So where should AI strategy sit? At the intersection of strategy, operations, and people. Owned by the CEO, or the Chief Strategy Officer. Delivered in partnership with HR, Risk, and yes — Tech. Because AI is a system change. And system change needs orchestration, not just execution. Let the tech team build. I was interviewed by the AFR on AI with the article published today. AI is inevitable, it is here now and being used by employees whether managers know this or not. Employers need to ask, how best to implement AI, with appropriate guardrails and what up-skilling is required. Use cases for AI adoption need to be considered by the organisation with a focus on time saving on tasks and productivity benefits and with agentic AI, customer benefits as well. It's time for the Australian tech sector to move beyond "thoughts and prayers" and take meaningful action to increase the number of women in the industry. As former Australian Chief of Army David Morrison said, "The standard you walk past is the standard you accept." For too long, we've been diagnosing the problem of gender inequality in tech without committing to a cure. We have the data, we have the reports, but what we need now is tangible, public commitment from leadership. The "pipeline for women is leaking at every joint" because of systemic issues that we can no longer ignore. In my latest op-ed for Startup Daily, I outline the actionable steps we can take to create a more inclusive and equitable tech ecosystem. It's time to tie diversity and inclusion goals to CEO and C-suite KPIs, to dedicate long-term budgets for systemic change, and for executives to dedicate significant time to creating inclusive workplaces. Great to see TechDay Australia cover the launch of our new Affinda AI document processing platform, which solves one of the hardest technical problems in business process automation.
