We should probably try to get #7238 and by extension the update to object_store 0.12.0 (once released) into this release.

We can create another RC, but I would recommend against it.

Neither of those PRs is ready (reviewed / approved ready for merge)

Maybe we could get them ready if we wanted to try in the next major release
