With a slate of movies having just kicked off with James Gunn's Superman in 2025 and continuing with Supergirl and Clayface in 2026, streaming series like Peacemaker and Creature Commandos, a host of games and game developers, not to mention a 90 year old comic book publishing arm, there's a lot that Netflix is buying in the deal. But what might they be planning for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League once the sale is final? The answer, we hope, is nothing...

1 year, 9 months - Canon! For better or worse, Hollywood is what it is today in large part thanks to the concept of the shared universe. And the shared universe style of storytelling rose to popularity because of the huge success of Marvel Studios. The other studios tried to follow the trend, usually failing to replicate Marvel’s big wins. And that includes the DCEU, a series that had its moments but never really found its footing.But that’s where James Gunn comes in. As he launches his new DC Universe with Creature Commandos, and then the new 2025 Superman movie after that, he told us the following: "One of the weird things to me is none of this is real. It may be alarming to people, but none of it is real."Basically, as far as James Gunn is concerned, canon has become way more important than it should be.
