    I distinctly remember that time a not so senior coworker said all codebases she ever worked on inevitably turned to crap. That explained a lot about how they never did any cleanup on that team. I didn't believe their excuses then, and I disagree with this midwit frame now. Old

    Relevant, yes, but not how they mean. If the only model you have to explain European politics in 2026 is to compare it to 1940 then you have missed the boat entirely and are unable to explain what people actually believe.

    The fact that this had to be said is just astonishing to me. Maybe it's because as a software engineer I've observed plenty of times what it's like when someone's job has another person as a hard dependency for accomplishing the things they already promised they could do.
