I'd bump 2024 to the top even given what we already know. Normalizing political violence and corrupting all government functions to punish enemies and enrich friends, then there's whatever happens with AI.

Because every presidential election is supposedly "the most important election of our lifetime," I used the benefit of hindsight to rank the most consequential of my lifetime. Of course, "consequential" doesn't mean good or bad. It means that it really mattered who won.

A data analysis tip that still seems underused: Any time you are thinking of sorting data by some importance score, w, instead sort by -log(rand())/w. This gives you a weighted random sample with weights following w. Sampling ~w gives you a more representative understanding.
