Britain has scrapped its national digital ID scheme. This is the right decision. A centralised database of every resident's identity is a breach waiting to happen. We argued this in our consultation response to the UK government.

this is the end state of a financial system with no privacy guarantee in it. there is no version where the data exists on a server somewhere and stays unused by the people in charge. privacy must be built into the system.
