Java GC trades heap space for lower CPU overhead: more headroom usually means fewer collections, while less headroom saves RAM but can increase CPU use. Java memory use should not be judged by RAM consumption alone :-)

JEP 401 brings value classes preview to JDK 28. They enable flattening and scalarization, but are not magic: immutability helps, while megamorphic calls may reintroduce allocation. A great look at how C2 JIT compiler is improving :-)
