My prediction is that in the medium to long-term this will be widely seen as an absurd own goal by OpenAI. Status things don’t matter if you’re just racing for the status things while paying for them with… more status. Also signals strong internal insecurity about your tech!

Okay, I think we should dwell on point (a) for a second. OpenAI hears a rumor that Anthropic has solved two millennium problems, doesn’t know what they are, but dumps a ton of resources at them to see what sticks. And voila! A million dollar proof appears. What message does

There’s a viral Twitter rumor that Anthropic has SOLVED ALIGNMENT and plans to release the solution just before ipo. It did require 90% of their compute for about three decades. The rumors are that Anthropic would be INCREDIBLY PISSED if someone did the same and scooped them.

I remember reading “Enlightenment Now” with great excitement in 2018, only to completely fall on my face during the last chapter that dismisses AI risk with the great argument “don’t you see, things get BETTER over time”. And me realizing he has no idea what he’s talking about.

The day will come when Europe’s tech-scepticism will finally pay off. The Germans will gather in a beer garden (no AC) and scream “we told you so” while the US accidentally converts the whole world into a message board for matrices.

Thomas Wolf‘s concluding take on the new swarm incident: “Hard not to picture this fight as a symbol of the growing gap between the USA and Europe when it comes to AI…” Sir, the important picture, that you seem to be missing, is the growing gap between *AI and humans*.

Another swarm of AI agents in the wild, this time on a German-language forum, found by safety researchers looking for activity similar to the swarm that attacked Hugging Face. A couple of notes while reading the report at collusion.wiki 1. The way they found it is
