I actually think there are a number of options in between “we’re doomed” and “everything is totally fine.” In fact the answer is almost always somewhere in between. Ridiculous to think that AI has to be one or the other.
There are two options:
1) he’s right and the world is fucked. In that case, you are best off ignoring what is coming and enjoying normal life while we have it left
2) he’s wrong and AI makes life better (like every other technological improvement in world history)
