    Jacob might be right and he might've been since Anthropic was founded though he is more likely to be correct today. Far more lab employees should be making moves (not necessarily quitting, but sometimes quitting) based on the developments of the last few months.

    I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

    feels wrong that more people from labs haven't left to join METR or similar endeavors. i don't think the optimal number is high enough such that it's probable that any individual should be wrong to stay at the labs but i'm pretty sure it's a much higher number than i've seen

    An exciting personal update: Last week I left Anthropic to join @METR_Evals to work on embedded assessment of AI risks. Anthropic has been great to me. I’ve always known, though, that if something more impactful came up, I’d move on.
