Gemini 3.8 Flash launched today. I benchmarked it by spending ~$50 translating two book chapters: 18 models, ~60 runs. Gemini said to use 3.8; skip the cheap tier. 3.8 returned every block and still scored below the cheap tier, 3.5 Flash Lite, at $0.04 per chapter. More on that

Gemini 3.8 Flash launched today. I already tested it in my book-translation benchmark, along with its three older versions, on two chapters. The newer the model, the lower the score. The cheapest one, 3.5 Flash Lite, sits at the top. Post with full benchmark coming.

Have had @laravel Cloud object storage-hosted SVGs intermittently disappearing - not the same images, not always - on and off for a few months. Tracked it down with @matgrimm's assistance overnight and wrote about it dyrynda.com.au/blog/your-imag…
