When I'm asked why OpenBSD is good and that I want to reply honestly, I have no argument.

From a technical point of view, I can't tell any strong benefits using OpenBSD, NetBSD or FreeBSD over Linux, although this doesn't mean they are bad.

It would be easy for me to be "cargo-culting" facts, being a "fanboy" or enumerating features that are exclusive to one (and they are rare, except if you are looking for the very very same feature!).

The truth is that what one OS will do better than an other, it will also do worse in another area.

It's important that we keep the BSD systems as relevant Linux alternatives: for software diversity, innovation and freedom of choice.

Would you recommend a password manager at all for people that are not really familiar with computers or smartphones? I was thinking at pushing Bitwarden (because I have a vaultwarden instance), but this might be too complicated... Any experience?

I had the chance to ride a gen2 Hayabusa yesterday 🚀

The riding position was incredible, and it was surprisingly comfortable!

It was not a recent one, it had 78000 km and it looked brand new it sounded nice with its 2 akrapović exhausts. I've been very cautious riding this by the way!

I want one now, it was so comfortable and fun

Today I had the opportunity to ride a Kawasaki Ninja 1100 SX

It was a real blast, I never rode anything like this. It was so smooth, so subtle and yet it was powerful

Shifting gear was super smooth, the engine was not loud which was surprising, I was able to ride in a city in 6th gear at 1500 rpm and it was still ready to accelerate without having to downshift.

Pretty cool, Clonezilla can clone a disk with LUKS partitions, can ask to open it to only save the content* and not the whole bit by bit partition, the backup image can be encrypted**

The cool thing is that clonezilla will recreate the LUKS partition on restore and ask for a password for it.

Perfect for full backups of encrypted workstation without wasting storage space.

* of course, depending on your threat model, this might disclose the real size of the partition when looking at the backup image

** if you do not trust / not trust enough the encryption done by clonezilla, store the backup on an encrypted volume

With Qubes OS, I can run programs in stateless environments when I need, this is absolutely great for reliability and security

Most of the operating systems involved are stateless too (except /home)

This requires some training of course, but then I found it really hard to go back to a traditional OS.

I just put together a Qubes OS guide on setting up an HTTP(S) proxy with Squid, so you can actually filter which URLs a qube is allowed to access. (even if you set it offline)

Because you can't just put a domain name into the firewall and expect it to work more than a few minutes nowadays.
