MANRS for Network Operators
Apply NowNetwork operators have a collective responsibility to ensure a globally robust and secure routing infrastructure. Your network’s safety depends on a routing infrastructure that weeds out bad actors and accidental misconfigurations that wreak havoc on the Internet. The more network operators work together, the fewer incidents there will be, and the less damage they can do.
The MANRS Network Operators Program defines the minimum steps network operators like Internet Service Providers should take to ensure the security and resilience of the Internet’s global routing system.
Actions
- Filtering. Ensure the correctness of your own announcements and those from your customers to adjacent networks
- Anti-spoofing. Enable source address validation for at least single-homed stub customer networks, their own end-users, and infrastructure
- Coordination. Maintain globally accessible, up-to-date contact information in common routing databases.
- Global information. Publish your data so others can validate
Implementation Guide
An Implementation Guide documents deployment of MANRS Actions and is targeted at stub networks and small providers. The document also assists in checking if the network setup is compliant with MANRS.
Testimonials
MANRS represents the future of Internet routing security. Network operators in the MANRS community are pioneers, making global routing infrastructure as robust and secure as possible, through innovation and investment. As a leading global communications and network service provider, China Telecom (Americas) has been collaborating with the MANRS team since early 2019 to implement the best routing security standards on all of our major Internet networks. Today, we are excited to be count ourselves as a MANRS participant, and hopefully inspire more large-scale network operators to join our ranks.
Vice President, China Telecom Americas CorporationWe believe the security, stability, and resiliency of the Internet operation can be improved via distributed and shared responsibilities as documented in MANRS. As one of the largest academic networks in the world, CERNET is committed to the MANRS actions.
Deputy Director, CERNETWe always try to keep our network safe for our customers. MANRS is a must for the internet. Hostmein Cloud is dedicated to providing the best possible and secure network to its customers.
Mantener el internet y la red segura con las mejores prácticas entre los pares, es sumamente importante y brinda un alivio a nuestros cliente y asociados que se mantienen políticas de seguridad en nuestra red con la comunidad de MANRS.
Anexia believes that routing security is imperative for the sustainability of the global communications network. By joining MANRS we express our intent to contribute to a trustworthy environment for all participants.
Senior Network Engineer, IP EngineeringSaicom consistently push to ensure a clean and stable internet infrastructure for our clients. MANRS allows us to ensure our clients that we take the right steps in securing their routes
Network OperationsSince its beginnings, Fiber@Home has endeavored to keep up a safe and strong system, sending the most refreshed prescribed procedures and, as a Transit provider, dispersing them to its clients with the end goal to get from them a dedication of conveying these accepted procedures in their systems also. Clinging to MANRS activity fortifies this position.
The University of Maine System is a strong supporter of the MANRS initiative and will follow its guidance to assist in the stabilization of the routing infrastructure of the Internet.
GOLINE firmly believes in initiatives to protect networks, improve security and resilience of the global routing system. Therefore we decided to support the MANRS project and join as participants.
Managing DirectorInternet security requires the collaboration and commitment from all the networks involved. Kemnet believes that with MANRS, Global cooperation will be a step in improved routing security and good Internet governance.
Senior Network Engineer, KEMNETSUNET is committed to robust global routing polices and MANRS is one of the best initiatives so far to help out operators with this. We hope with our participation that more of the R&E sector will sign up and live up to the norms. We hope that in the future MANRS will be the standard, not the exception.
Network Architect, SUNETSince its beginnings, RedIRIS has striven to maintain a secure and resilient network, deploying the most updated best practices and, as a National R&E Network, disseminating them to its customers in order to get from them a commitment of deploying these best practices in their networks as well. Adhering to MANRS initiative reinforces this position.
