- Midland County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a new library materials reconsideration policy that takes the power to remove books away from a citizen-led review committee and gives it back to the county’s library director.
- Yolanda Saldivar was denied parole by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles on Thursday. Saldivar was arrested and eventually convicted for the 1995 murder of Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez in Corpus Christi. Saldivar shot her at a hotel.
- The Lubbock public health director said Wednesday local efforts to fight a measles outbreak will be affected by the federal government’s announcement that it’s pulling $11 billion in COVID-era funding for public health departments. Via @TexasTribune
