The differences in how $EBAY & $ETSY define GMV/GMS also matter beyond general marketplace comparisons - as shown by this footnote in tiny print on yesterday's earnings presentation. eBay says Depop is expected to contribute ~1.5 pts to GMV growth in 2026. 📈 Footnote says:

For anyone interested in how $EBAY GMV compares to other marketplaces... eBay definition: total value of all paid transactions inclusive of shipping fees & taxes, *without* adjustment for returns or cancellations (refunds not deducted from reported total). Etsy comparable

One of the criteria eBay uses to define Enthusiast Buyer is a buyer who also sells on the platform. That would also mean it includes sellers who also buy on the platform. So...yep, that includes sellers with Store subscriptions who use the quarterly coupon eBay provides that

Does “enthusiast buyers” stat include sellers with stores who only buy shipping supplies quarterly on ebay because they receive the quarterly discount coupon?
