It’s hard to believe the FCC truly views Unitree’s Chinese-made humanoid and quadruped robots as legitimate national security risks when it has already authorized them and continues to allow their sale.

I don't think that robot people are freaking the fuck out appropriately enough about the FCC rule. Almost all the little guys are making actuators on sticks robots. Hitting a 65% domestic BOM is not trivial right now. Can't even buy US actuators and assembly does not count.

This still is a win-win. It makes house cleaning services something more middle income people can regularly utilize.

Here's my dystopian thesis on home humanoid robots as a roboticist: 1. Deploy home robots. 2. Teleop robots using labor in the global south to "collect data." 3. Fail to build reliable autonomy. 4. Continue to teleop robots. 5. Profit on labor arbitrage.

Ok. These are grok made up nonsense numbers, but I was just playing a pretend round of the 65% domestic game. Is this really the game we need to play now if we want to sell robots to people in US? cuz. then this exactly fits into my low cost optimization lifestyle wheelhouse.

Too little, too late to save what was, but being frank about security and control and acting on that is necessary to getting us out of this mess. theverge.com/policy/972312/…

Riding around looking at office space today. This one looks promising.
