    Fedora Documentation

A community distribution sponsored by Red Hat and the upstream innovation source for RHEL and CentOS Stream: new kernels, toolchains and desktop technology land here first. The fast cadence is the point, not a defect.

    Three paths, pick by situation

First work out how much time you have, then how to upgrade; if it must serve, price the cadence in.

The upstream chain: Fedora → CentOS Stream → RHEL

    • Fedora remains the first upstream of RHEL; after RHEL branches off, CentOS is upstream for ongoing work on those RHEL versions
    • Targeted releases land on the third Tuesday of April and October — a hybrid of time and quality
    • Each release is supported until four weeks after the release two versions later (about 13 months)

    03 — Versions

Six-month cadence, window set by N+2

“About 13 months” means Release N is supported until four weeks after Release N+2 ships. Dates follow the official schedule and may move.
