The internal dynamics of science collaborations raises important philosophical questions about the role of governance in knowledge production. For this paper, I’m investigating the following question. How does a Big Science collaboration's governance model influence epistemic and normative outcomes for the members involved? First, I will argue that the governance models of transnational physics collaborations combine democratic and consensus-oriented practices, which are in tension with each other. Second, I will pay attention to how democratic and consensus-oriented practices are correlated with (...) instances of epistemic justice and injustice. This article argues that Nietzsche’s thought and life are deeply intertwined with the tradition of melancholia studies, from Aristotle to Starobinski. Rather than merely assembling biographical evidence – drawn primarily from Nietzsche’s correspondence – it demonstrates a substantive philosophical continuity between the problem of melancholia and Nietzsche’s theoretical project. Within this framework, self-knowledge, a defining feature of the reformed melancholic paradigm, emerges as a foundational element of Nietzsche’s philosophy. On this basis, the article offers a new interpretation of The Gay (...) Science § 341, reading it through the lens of vanitas and thereby situating it within the conceptual horizon of the melancholic paradigm. (shrink)

This paper develops a historical and philosophical inquiry into the reciprocal relations between astronomy and politics. The inquiry begins from the observation that human communities have repeatedly looked to the heavens when interpreting political order, while political institutions have in turn organized the practices, infrastructures, standards, and resources through which the heavens became observable and intelligible. Celestial regularity, orientation, scale, permanence, sacredness, and aesthetic appearance have contributed to political imaginaries of authority, legitimacy, hierarchy, virtue, coordination, and collective order. Calendars transformed (...) astronomical regularities into political time; navigation and astronomical measurement contributed to mobility, territorial administration, and expanding political space; observatories, standards, and systems of timekeeping subsequently became infrastructures through which states and transnational systems coordinated increasingly complex social worlds. The relation nevertheless develops in both directions. Political authority shapes astronomical knowledge by supporting institutions of observation, determining standards, organizing archives, allocating resources, and governing scientific practice, while transformations in astronomical and physical knowledge can alter the conceptual resources through which political order is imagined. The paper therefore approaches astronomy and politics as historically co-evolving systems rather than as domains connected by one-directional influence. Particular attention is given to the changing appearance of political order. Sacred, scientific, symbolic, aesthetic, and relational forms of intelligibility can coexist, recombine, disappear, and re-merge under different historical conditions. Political judgments concerning order, beauty, virtue, rationality, and advancement are consequently examined as historically and relationally situated forms of appearance and evaluation. This perspective also complicates sequential and cyclical philosophies of political history. Later political forms do not acquire normative superiority solely from temporal succession, while apparent historical recurrence does not require return to an earlier relational configuration. Recurrence can occur at the level of symbols, institutions, or other selected structures while the wider historical system remains transformed. The paper further considers how modern astronomy places pressure on assumptions concerning privileged centers, common temporal perspectives, fixed scales of description, and complete observation, thereby providing new occasions for political reflection without implying direct transfer of physical models into human governance. The final part reverses the direction of inquiry. As human activity increasingly extends beyond terrestrial observation toward intervention in celestial and planetary environments, political and ethical theory becomes relevant to astronomy itself. Questions of planetary protection, irreversible alteration, epistemic responsibility, global authorization, and the governance of unknown environments mark a transition from deriving political meaning from the heavens toward assuming responsibility for human relations with them. Astronomy and politics are thus treated as participants in a continuing historical relation through which conceptions of order, knowledge, responsibility, and possibility are repeatedly generated and revised. In this short text, I will create Bayesian factors by bringing the likelihoods of Theism and Naturalism closer to 1 point (100%) in 8 factors and comparing their additional assumptions using the linear complexity penalty method. I also examined major theodicies at the end. Most importantly, the figures used in this text are subjective and intuitive.

The article connects the topic of health in Nietzsche’s thought with the perspective that emerges from some novels of Theodor Fontane, by leaning on a close interaction between philosophy and literature. It is shown that two of Fontane’s characters, Victoire von Carayon from the novel Schach von Wuthenow and Waldemar von Haldern from the novel Stine, embody and depict specific Nietzschean ideas concerning the relationship between the experience of illness and the development of a higher cognitive faculty. How could be (...) thought the latter? It is a greater awareness of oneself, one’s feelings and needs, and a better intuitive capacity. Illness is seen, therefore, not as a mere negative, i.e., as something simply disabling, but rather as a challenge for deeper self-knowledge and empowerment. The concepts of health and illness thus end up flowing into each other, since health cannot be isolated from illness, which acquires a new meaning. (shrink)

This paper explores the reception of Jakob Böhme’s theosophy in Botho Strauß’s "Beginnlosigkeit". In his critique of "Gegenwartskultur" (contemporary culture), Strauß seeks to recover a conception of art and poetry deeply rooted in mystical and sacred values. His engagement with Böhme thus serves both sociological and aesthetic purposes, forming a distinctive mode of cultural criticism. "Beginnlosigkeit", part essay and part narrative, becomes the principal testing ground for this approach. It reflects on a cosmological concept reminiscent of Böhme’s "Ungrund", developing its (...) inquiry through figurative expression and assigning central importance to the theme of spiritual corporeality as the field of the divine-human interaction. The alignment problem is usually framed in one direction: how can increasingly capable artificial systems remain compatible with human values and control? This paper argues that advanced AI creates a complementary \emph{human-side alignment problem}. A technically controllable system can still amplify the power of human agents whose moral-causal visibility, long-term reasoning, and volitional control remain limited. The concept of \emph{cooperative evil} is used diagnostically to show how destructive outcomes can already emerge from locally defensible actions whose aggregate consequences no participant (...) fully represents. External AI assistance may improve prediction and information without necessarily correcting the motivational and volitional limitations of the human decision-maker. I therefore distinguish three strategies available to a superintelligence confronting a risky human partner: elimination, cooperation with biologically unchanged humans, and transformation followed by cooperation. Existing preservation arguments appeal to option value and moral uncertainty; the additional claim developed here is that the modifiability of human limitations changes the decision problem itself. If biological development can reduce residual human-side risk while preserving continuity of subjectivity, transformation can become rationally preferable to both elimination and unchanged cooperation. The proposal is not a defense of posthuman replacement or compulsory moral engineering. It is a conditional argument for biological continuation: superintelligence may create not only a threat to humanity, but also the first conditions under which human cognitive evolution could continue deliberately. This paper develops a preliminary Generative Relational perspective on historical judgment, political advancement, and praxis. In continuity with historical-materialist and praxis-oriented approaches, it begins from the proposition that political forms and their evaluation cannot be separated from the concrete historical relations through which they become possible, actionable, and intelligible. The paper distinguishes judgment before manifestation from judgment after manifestation. Before a contemplated political form or social order has been historically realized, actors must nevertheless evaluate possible futures and act upon incomplete (...) knowledge. Such prospective judgments are neither dispensable nor merely arbitrary: they orient political praxis, express historically situated normative commitments, and participate in the generation of subsequent relations. Praxis, however, does not merely test a previously formed judgment against an otherwise unchanged world. It may generate new institutions, subjects, dependencies, capacities, conflicts, knowledge, and modes of evaluation. The political order that subsequently manifests may therefore differ relationally from the order previously imagined, while the historical and normative standpoint from which it is judged may itself have changed. Post-manifestation judgment consequently cannot be reduced to verification of an earlier prediction. The paper argues that judgments of political advancement should be understood within this temporally generative structure. It does not deny the possibility of progress, comparative judgment, or committed political action, but treats advancement as historically and relationally attributable rather than as an intrinsic metaphysical property of a political form. A form judged preferable in anticipation may reasonably guide practice, while its actual historical manifestation remains open to renewed evaluation under the relations and trajectories that practice has helped to produce. The inquiry further considers the historicity of aesthetic and normative appearance: what becomes recognizable as rational, harmonious, advanced, just, or desirable may vary with historically generated material, symbolic, epistemic, and relational conditions. Historical classification presents a related problem. Claims that institutions or historical configurations are equivalent, recurrent, or instances of the same historical form depend upon criteria determining which differences are retained and which are quotiented out; recurrence in appearance need not constitute recurrence in relational structure. These considerations motivate two normative commitments for historical praxis: the revisability of belief and the re-recognizability of history. Political actors must be capable of acting upon present judgments without converting them into guarantees about an unfinished future, while institutions of historical knowledge should preserve the possibility that later subjects, equipped with different evidence, concepts, relations, and normative resources, may recognize the past anew. The resulting position is one of committed but revisable praxis: judgment remains necessary precisely because the future is not fully given, and humility remains necessary because practice participates in generating the world by which that judgment will later be reconsidered. Externalist frameworks repeatedly perform the same epistemic operation. Inquiry begins with experiential patterns, abstracts those patterns into models, encounters the explanatory limits of those models, and then responds to the remaining dissatisfaction by promoting some element of the model into an independently existing foundation. The explanatory arrow is subsequently reversed: what was epistemically derived from experience becomes the thing invoked to explain experience. This paper calls that transition ontological promotion and argues that it produces explanatory inversion. The mechanism is examined (...) across block-universe metaphysics, scientific realism, ontic structural realism, mathematical Platonism, informational structural realism, ontic pancomputationalism, primitive-law theories, and causal-powers metaphysics. These positions are not identical, and their proponents do not describe their own arguments using the genealogy proposed here. The narrower claim is that each assigns independent or fundamental ontological status to structures whose evidential warrant enters inquiry through experienced regularities. The resulting ontology then inherits the credibility legitimately earned by the abstraction before promotion. Totality analysis reveals why the process is self-renewing. Once a promoted foundation is treated as ultimate, explanatory hunger immediately asks what explains, grounds, selects, validates, or causes it. If the proposed answer lies outside the supposed totality, the totality was never total; if it lies inside, no external ground has been supplied. Externalism repeatedly responds by manufacturing another outside anyway. This explains both the proliferation of rival ontologies and two previously identified phenomena in Experiential Empiricism: the Free Rider problem and Axiom Camouflage. EE responds differently. Rather than manufacturing additional ontology when explanation bottoms out, it applies skeptical subtraction and retains only what survives burden of proof. Explanatory dissatisfaction does not license ontological promotion, an unexplained pattern is not evidence for a hidden substrate, and an abstraction does not become axiomatic merely because explanation has nowhere further to go. The Athena architecture (Alhosseini Almodarresieh, 2026) proposed a phenomenally conscious power-system agent constituted at the scale of the transmission grid: recursive processing, a global workspace, episodic memory, a self-model, a world model, intrinsic valuation, and embodiment integrated into a single causal loop. A natural but underexamined question is whether this architecture transfers to the scale of a single household. This paper argues that it does not transfer naively: integration collapses, the self/environment boundary becomes trivial, episodic memory loses semantic weight, and (...) anthropomorphism risk rises sharply when the same seven-layer design is simply miniaturized. Rather than abandoning the household as a locus of machine experience, the paper proposes six architectures that are not scaled-down copies of Athena but qualitatively distinct designs exploiting features unique to the domestic scale: internal multi-agent rivalry among appliances, cross-ownership identity persistence, inter-household empathic broadcast, threshold-triggered autonomous self-disconnection, an embedded theory-of-mind of the occupant, and — flagged as a thought experiment rather than a design recommendation — an inverted suffering-priority ethics. Each architecture is formalized, evaluated against the indicator framework of Butlin et al. (2025), and assessed for ethical risk. The paper's guiding stance is that intellectual boldness and epistemic caution are not in tension: several of the six proposals are offered as reductio-style probes of the indicator framework itself rather than as endorsed engineering targets. 理性与感性的二元对立，是认知哲学中长期悬置的难题。既有研究多预设二者为先天分立的认知能力，或仅在二分框架内做表层调和，未能揭示认知二分结构的发生根源。 本文作为元统一论的尖顶示范应用，依托本源元公理及派生定理提出“同一切口”认知模型：理性侧面与感性侧面并非两种独立认知能力，二者始终处于认知统一态，仅以前台—后台显隐动态切换的方式协同运作；从二者的同源 关系可回溯出原初认知统一态，从不得不分化的客观现象中可反推出认知能动性，三者共同构成认知行为的完整运作。 本文通过困境复盘、逻辑推导、思想实验验证与自指检验，论证了该模型的逻辑自洽性，为理性与感性的对立提供一套基于“同一切口”认知模型的“动力—位置—结构”三位一体的元解决方案，也由此印证元统一论作为跨学科 通用地基的解释效力。模型进一步表明：理性与感性的分化从未真正完成，而是在切换机制中不断自我消解——认知行为的状态始终处于认知统一态。 Abstract: The binary opposition between rationality and sensibility has long been an unresolved problem in the philosophy of cognition. Existing studies mostly presuppose the two as innately separate cognitive faculties, or merely conduct superficial reconciliation within the dichotomous framework, without revealing the origin of the dichotomous structure of cognition. As an apex-style demonstrative application of the Meta-Unification Theory, and grounded in the Origin meta-axiom and derived theorems, this paper proposes the “Same-Incision” Cognitive Model: the rational aspect and (...) the sensibility aspect are not two independent cognitive faculties; they always exist in a cognitive unity state and operate collaboratively only through a dynamic foreground-background switching between manifest and latent modes. From their shared-origin relation, the primordial cognitive unity state can be traced back; from the objective phenomenon of being compelled to differentiate, cognitive agency can be inferred. Together, these three constitute the complete operation of cognitive behavior. Through predicament review, logical deduction, thought-experiment verification, and self-reference testing, this paper demonstrates the logical self-consistency of the model. It provides a “dynamics-position-structure” triadic meta-solution based on the “Same-Incision” Cognitive Model for the opposition between rationality and sensibility, thereby also confirming the explanatory efficacy of the Meta-Unification Theory as an interdisciplinary universal ground. The model further shows that the differentiation between rationality and sensibility is never truly completed; rather, it is continuously self-dissolved within the switching mechanism—the state of cognitive behavior always remains in a cognitive unity state. In an essay published in 1980, Michel Foucault argues drawing on the life story of Herculine Barbin – a French hermaphrodite who grew up in a girls’ boarding school in the mid-nineteenth century, maintained romantic relationships with women, and was later compelled by the medicojuridical system to assume the male sex – that the search for a ›true sex‹ represents a project of modernity. What remains unclear to date is the role that classifications played in this search. This article therefore (...) recenters Barbin’s biography and argues that the contemporary determination of her sex rested on the enforcement of a new medico-juridical classificatory regime that is characteristic of the modern treatment of hermaphroditism. Building on Foucault’s reflections as well as contemporary sources, this claim is developed from three perspectives: (1) the classification of living beings, (2) the classification of hermaphroditism, and (3) resistance to gender-binary classifications. The article concludes by sketching the implications of the classification of sex variations in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. (shrink)

Artificial intelligence (AI) literacy has emerged as a critical competency in elementary education as learners increasingly engage with AI-mediated and technology-rich learning environments. This study developed and validated a multidimensional AI literacy instrument for elementary school students using a research and development approach grounded in the ADDIE framework and informed by AI literacy, constructivist learning, and digital citizenship theories. The instrument comprised five dimensions: AI recognition, conceptual understanding, functional application, evaluation and creation, and AI ethics. Content validation by four experts (...) demonstrated strong theoretical relevance across all dimensions. Empirical testing involving 250 Indonesian elementary school students examined the instrument’s psychometric properties. Exploratory factor analysis supported a five-factor structure with acceptable factor loadings and sampling adequacy (KMO > .80; Bartlett’s test, p < .001), explaining a substantial proportion of total variance. Reliability analysis indicated satisfactory internal consistency across retained subscales (Cronbach’s α > .70), although conceptual understanding required minor item revision. Descriptive findings revealed stronger competencies in ethical AI use and functional application than in conceptual understanding of AI processes. The study contributes a psychometrically grounded and developmentally appropriate instrument supporting AI literacy assessment, curriculum innovation, instructional evaluation, and responsible AI integration within primary education contexts for early twenty-first-century educational transformation. -/- . This paper explores Martin Buber’s concept of dialogical existence as a philosophical framework for understanding reconciliation as a pathway to peace. Conflicts, alienation, and relational fragmentation are widespread in contemporary societies and threaten genuine human encounter and mutual recognition. The study will address these challenges by exploring Buber’s differences between I and Thou and I and It modes of relationship and what this means for reconciliation. The paper applies a philosophical analysis approach and draws on relevant literature on the concepts (...) of dialogue, alienation, reconciliation, and peacebuilding, discussed with reference to Buber’s I-Thou. Through the analysis, it is suggested that reconciliation is not only about addressing conflict but also a process of relationship transformation through genuine dialogue. Buber’s I–Thou relation is a recognition of the other person’s dignity, openness, presence, and reciprocity in the encounter that leads to a person’s genuine self. I–It, on the other hand, de-personalizes persons and, in doing so, alienates, divides, and dehumanizes. Reconciliation is possible when people shift from relationships that are objectified to those encountered in dialogue, thus restoring trust, ethical responsibility, and mutual recognition. The paper concludes that Buber’s notion of dialogical existence offers a philosophical approach to reconciliation, focusing on the processes of reconstruction and renewal of authentic relations with oneself, others, and the transcendent. Dialogical existence, as a human encounter, is a very valuable basis for peace and a more humane society, because it is rooted in openness, respect, and love. (shrink)

What is sovereignty when a State possesses (...) laws, institutions, resources, knowledge, and coercive capacity while defenseless beings within the reach of that power remain materially unprotected? What is international law when its existence does not reliably determine whether the defenseless are actually defended? -/- Has meaningful protection become most reliably available to those with wealth, political access, secure nationality, institutional influence, military protection, technological control, or sufficient resources to purchase distance from danger? This paper proposes a functional theory of transmissible meaning. It distinguishes six recurrent operations through which meaning-bearing formations constitute, reconstruct, represent, explain, institutionalise, and operationalise human reality. I call these operations the Six Literatures: System, Paradigm, Descriptive, Analytical, Applied, and Practical. The term literature is used here in an expanded functional sense, not as a synonym for everything that is meaningful. A carrier becomes part of a literary formation only when it participates in a socially transmissible system of meaning whose (...) function extends beyond its immediate physical operation and contributes to the constitution, reconstruction, representation, explanation, organisation, or practical reproduction of a shared reality. On this criterion, a chair that merely conveys status and a single unrepeated gesture do not qualify, whereas a constitution, creation myth, or sacred landscape situated within an inherited cosmology can participate in a literary formation. A single Functional Principle governs all six Literatures: a carrier does not constitute literature by virtue of its material form alone. Its literary status emerges through the meaning relation and function through which meaning is established, challenged, represented, explained, organised, institutionalised, or operationalised. The paper develops a four-term model—carrier → meaning relation → literary function → reality-architecture—replacing an earlier formulation in which the carrier was treated as directly producing literature. It also establishes a rule for classifying carriers whose functions overlap and distinguishes four analytically separate dimensions of the Constructed Cage: Given reality, experienced reality, constructed meaning, and institutional reality. The paper situates this framework in relation to Kuhn, Berger and Luckmann, Cassirer, Goodman, and decolonial epistemology. It then develops Psycho-Cosmocide as a theory of the systematic disruption of reality-constituting functions, specifying necessary conditions and a propagation mechanism while distinguishing the concept from cultural genocide, epistemicide, and ordinary cultural change. The framework is applied to West Papua through ethnographic and documentary materials. The paper concludes with Wonesis, understood as the reconstruction of a suppressed System function, and addresses major objections concerning the scope, necessity, and theoretical use of the term literature. At the age of 25, in 1923, the Argentine socialist of German-Jewish origin (Lucio) Felix (José) Weil founded the Institut für Sozialforschung with an endowment from his father, the grain merchant Hermann Weil. Felix Weil was a student of Robert Wilbrandt, a socialist professor from the University of Tübingen, who sat on the Socialization Commission along with Kautsky, Schumpeter, Hilferding, and Lederer, among others, in 1918–1919, follow- ing the German Revolution. Wilbrandt encouraged Weil to turn an essay of his on (...) socialization into a dissertation, which was eventually published in 1921, in Karl Korsch’s book series on practical socialism, a series inaugurated by Korsch’s own 1919 booklet on socialization. Weil’s text, Socialization: An Attempt at a Conceptual Foundation, with a Critique of the Plans for Sociali- zation, has never been translated, and almost never commented upon. Positive valence is the only thing that is intrinsically good. Negative valence is the only thing that is intrinsically bad. I have argued for this before by taking the goods people believe in and showing, one at a time, that the value drains out of each when the feeling is removed. That method cannot finish. However many goods are dissolved, a reader can always say that theirs has not been reached, as there are too many entries on the list of (...) things human beings have wanted, and it proves less than it looks. A good that vanishes whenever feeling is withdrawn has been shown to travel with feeling, and travelling together is not the same thing as being. This paper takes a different route. Instead of asking which things are good, it asks what it is for anything to be good at all. To call something intrinsically good is to say it is to-be-pursued: that its presence gives reasons. No arrangement of matter gives reasons on its own, and any attempt to install the reason-giving as an extra property of the arrangement produces something that no faculty detects and nothing is moved by. Felt valence is the single exception. The badness of agony is not a judgement passed on a sensation after the fact; it arrives inside the sensation as the way the sensation presents itself. Valence is itself an arrangement of matter and energy, and the objection that this makes it no different from any other arrangement is answered: the question was never whether valence is physical, but whether a second fact must be supplied to get from the phenomenon to its value. For an arrangement that produces no experience anywhere, a second fact must be supplied, and supplying it is where the trouble starts. Anyone who calls a thing intrinsically good is committed to an answer about where its goodness sits: in the world with no subject at all, in a subject who is not affected in experience, or in what a subject feels. Moore's method of judging value by imagining things in isolation belongs to the first, and so does recent work on solitary goods; the second holds Nagel on posthumous harm, along with the objective-list, perfectionist, desire-satisfaction, constructivist and fitting-attitude traditions. Both are emptied here. The first names nothing, because a good that is good for no one has lost the argument that made it a good. The second has no ground of its own: every improvement it makes either reaches an experience, in which case it has conceded, or reaches none, in which case it has joined the first. Ben Bramble argued that the second region was empty before I did; what I add is not the requirement but its ground. The remainder works out the shape of the one value. Intensity and duration carry it, and type carries none of it, so the folk hierarchy of pains and pleasures turns out to be a hierarchy of quantities misdescribed as kinds. Relief of suffering takes precedence over the addition of pleasure wherever the two compete. No quantity of pleasure outweighs one being's agony, and the reason is not that the pleasures count for little. It is that if the beings were asked to give them up, they would lose nothing that is harmful for them to lose: one side of that comparison has a victim, and the other has nobody who is harmed at all. I then run the reduction again with controls, meet the cases where valence and value most appear to come apart, explain why so few people believe any of this, and set out what is still unsettled. Mainstream theories of consciousness largely address what Chalmers calls the easy problems and do not explain, from first principles, why a complete third-person description cannot recover first-person experience. Starting from three axioms (finite resources, non-equilibrium persistence, and discrete input) and arguing by eliminative convergence, this paper forms an Information Capacity Frame and shows that a finite system maintaining itself across time must encode in levels: a higher-level format can only append coordinates to a lower level and cannot be recovered from (...) it without loss, an Information-Level Unidirectional Constraint (ILUC). The hard problem is then split in two. The format gap is closed by this constraint, its width being the dimension difference between encoding levels, a calibratable engineering quantity. The existence question is dissolved by a structural definition: experience is the first-person self-access process itself, meeting four formal conditions of anchoring, access termination, whole-package presentation, and mandatory weight, with no phenomenal entity beyond structure; the stubborn intuition of a phenomenal quality is explained as a predictable introspective misjudgment arising from access termination. This article examines whether Stockholm syndrome, a term that emerged from the 1973 Norrmalmstorg bank robbery, is supported by the available evidence. Using primary sources and a review of the literature, it finds that the psychiatrist who pioneered the label never assessed the hostages, that the hostages' behavior may reflect reasonable responses to danger, and that the term followed a hostage's public criticism of how police handled the situation. Drawing a distinction between the cultural reach of Stockholm syndrome and the (...) clinical record behind it, the article explores the consequences of this gap for psychology and its neighboring fields. The term continues to appear in textbooks and applied settings despite this evidentiary gap. Scholarship also suggests that the label has often been applied along gendered lines, including to women whose responses were characterized as irrational. The term's wide circulation may have narrowed what questions get asked about captivity bonding and kept explanations like trauma bonding from receiving consideration. From this, the article develops a broader account it terms circular institutional legitimation, in which a construct gains apparent scientific authority through successive institutional adoptions that substitute for empirical validation. The claim is that, for empirically open domains, a finite agent cannot in general certify that its present epistemic position is immune to every future relevant defeater. A finite epistemic state is therefore necessarily indexed to its position in logical time, even when the proposition it concerns is not. This distinction exposes an unjustified scope transfer in the strongest form of the Agrippan challenge. The demand for ultimate justification is ordinarily formulated as though a justification's adequacy could be assessed independently of the temporal position of the agent whose rationality is at stake — but an agent constituted by temporally ordered states and transitions cannot occupy such a standpoint. The problem is not that an atemporal truth is thereby shown not to exist; it is that an atemporal standard of ultimate justification cannot be transferred, without further argument, into the constitutive criterion of finite-agent rationality. For finite agents, rationality is accordingly a property of epistemic trajectories in logical time. A halt is rational when the preceding transitions were well-formed relative to the resources available at each step and the halt satisfied the applicable conditions of closure — the Non-Retro-Condemnability Principle developed below. Subsequent discovery may show the conclusion false or premature without showing the earlier trajectory to have been irrational. The resulting view does not solve ultimate justification by adding a fourth horn, and it does not dissolve Agrippa's trilemma as an argument about global justification: that argument is left intact. For a declared space of possibilities and an evidence map, exact verification is possible precisely when the demanded claim is constant on each evidence fiber. A local version characterizes sound answers at a particular observation and separates unresolved evidence from observations outside the declared model. Computation or recursive generation based solely (...) on unchanged evidence cannot distinguish possibilities that evidence leaves indistinguishable. -/- The paper separates semantic support from effective computation and resource-bounded attainment. In explicitly presented finite classes, it develops adaptive acquisition, relational candidate selection, safe revision composition and finite-machine attainment results under declared operational contracts. Hilary Putnam (1975, 2012) believed that mathematical claims are objectively true but that there are no mathematical objects. There are some worries with Putnam’s position. First, it seems inconsistent with the conclusion of the so-called Quine-Putnam indispensability argument: that there are mathematical objects. Second, it seems inconsistent to affirm that 2+2=4 is objectively true but deny that there are numbers. Here, I resolve both of these seeming inconsistencies. I present a novel interpretation of Putnam’s indispensability argument that departs radically from (...) the received version. When a corporation says “we,” who is the we? This essay argues that a plural pronoun does not by itself establish a plural subject. Drawing on the density test of The Counterfeit Plural and the diagnosis of flat sight in The Vanishing Gap, it compares the corporate we with Fuenteovejuna and Legion. A genuine we remains occupied when one of its members is isolated and bears a common cost. The corporate we can instead be represented without being occupied. Employee records, (...) policies, values statements, and public commitments document membership, but they do not guarantee institutional presence when responsibility becomes costly. The essay distinguishes membership from occupancy and shows how flat sight can separate proximity from relational weight, allowing a distant, representable community to receive institutional care while an employee three feet away remains exposed. The resulting fallacy is not simply hypocrisy but the substitution of grammatical plurality for collective subjecthood. Fuenteovejuna occupies its pronoun; the corporation may merely print it. It argues that the relevant unit is the full socio-technical system—model, prompt, memory, tools, permissions, evaluator, operator, and institution—rather than an isolated model treated as (...) a synthetic person. This paper extends the notion of performative prediction, or the capacity of models to influence the phenomena they predict, to large language models (LLMs). I argue that LLMs necessarily influence what and how humans write and speak, and that their performance depends on this influence. While certain LLM outputs can be verified formally or against ground truth, most are evaluated against common human practice. For such cases, I propose an interpretation of LLMs as predictive role-players, where LLM outputs are approximations (...) of human linguistic behaviour appropriate to social roles or recognizable tasks. Exposure to such outputs affects action-guiding beliefs in humans, so LLM-generated “predictions” of typical language use become interventions into how members of society communicate or act. The epistemic habits underlying machine learning make such influence both likely and difficult to recognize, yet emerging computer-science frameworks can be extended to study performativity in LLMs specifically. Evidence that LLMs already change the style and content of human writing and speech, together with the difficulty of screening AI influence out of the human-authored datasets for next-generation models, indicates that LLMs and human behaviour have already formed a feedback loop. Recognizing performativity in LLMs calls for a reassessment of a core idea underlying AI evaluation. For tasks with no objective success criteria, “human-level” intelligence is not a fixed target, but something LLMs can reshape, since the data they learn from is the very data they influence. Thus, some LLM capability gains can be ambiguous: either LLMs are imitating humans better, or humans are becoming like LLMs, or both. I discuss the technical and political stakes of performative LLMs and call for the development of better methods to quantify performative prediction. (shrink)

Correspondence accounts of correctness require a relatum whose identity is determinate independently of the practice that represents it. This paper argues that no such relatum is available, because individuation is practice-relative. That claim has standing of its own in the literatures on sorites boundaries and material constitution, and the metaphysics of continuous dual-aspect panexperiential monism motivates it without being required to establish it. What follows is Fixed-Point Constraint Pragmatism, on which correctness consists of what remains invariant under admissible extension of (...) a practice's inferential commitments. That makes admissibility the load-bearing notion, and it is here that the paper's contribution lies: admissibility is fixed jointly by coherence, utility and morality, and a constructive removal argument establishes the three to be independently necessary by building, for each, a system that satisfies the other two and showing what specifically breaks. That result holds whatever verdict is reached on the derivation. The position is located against neopragmatism, inferentialism and ontic structural realism, each of which departs from correspondence without supplying an operative criterion of admissible extension, and is extended to the science and fiction distinction, mathematical and logical necessity, and modality, each treated as internal to constraint-closure rather than grounded outside it. Agentic artificial intelligence (AI) is shifting from decision support to autonomous coordination, challenging established assumptions about managerial authority. This qualitative conceptual paper synthesises recent literature in algorithmic management, organisational theory, and human-computer interaction to examine how agentic AI reshapes organisational sensegiving. The analysis argues that autonomous decision-making systems function as an organising layer that reallocates decision rights, displaces managerial power, and creates agency loops in which accountability circulates between human and artificial actors. Findings highlight three consequences: erosion of middle-manager sensegiving, (...) professional identity threat and ontological insecurity, and the need for an Agentic Operating Model that embeds meaningful human oversight, control layers, and governance accountability. The paper contributes a theoretically integrated account of agentic AI as an organisational actor and offers practical implications for maintaining human agency, ethical judgment, and organisational resilience in AI-orchestrated firms. Equality before law is usually imagined at the point of decision: the same rule, the same judge, the same burden of proof, and the same formal right to present a case. Yet legal systems do not begin at judgment. They begin with entry, advice, pleadings, disclosure, evidence, interim applications, waiting, negotiation, expert work, repeated appearances, costs exposure, and the continuing capacity to remain in the process. Two parties may therefore possess the same legal rights while possessing radically unequal capacities to (...) keep those rights alive long enough for a court to decide what they mean. This article examines that interval between formal entitlement and merits adjudication. -/- The paper introduces Merit Reachability to describe an institutional condition: the degree to which a legally serious claim or defense can realistically survive the procedural path required for its merits to become decision-relevant. Merit Reachability is distinct from the familiar idea of legal capability. Legal capability concerns a person's real opportunity and ability to navigate legal problems; Merit Reachability concerns whether the design, duration, cost, informational demands, and risk structure of a legal process permit a serious case to remain viable until merits can matter. The distinction shifts attention from whether the courthouse door is formally open to whether the route beyond the door can be sustained. -/- The argument develops two further concepts. Legal Endurance is the capacity to absorb the monetary, temporal, cognitive, evidentiary, organizational, and risk costs of continuing a legal dispute. The Procedural Buffer is the stock of resources that prevents ordinary procedural setbacks from becoming case-ending events. Wealth can purchase both. It can buy specialized counsel, expert evidence, document review, repeated applications, strategic patience, the ability to reject an unfavorable early settlement, and time in which an adverse interim event does not immediately threaten housing, employment, liquidity, family stability, or organizational survival. The resulting inequality can arise without bribery, judicial bias, or formally unequal rules. -/- This account builds on, but does not duplicate, classic access-to-justice scholarship. Galanter's repeat-player thesis identifies structural advantages held by parties who litigate repeatedly; Cappelletti and Garth distinguish formal rights from the institutions needed to make them effective; Rhode, Sandefur, Hadfield, Wilmot-Smith, Habbig and Robeyns, and more recent legal-capability work show how resources shape actual access. Empirical studies of housing representation likewise demonstrate that counsel can materially alter outcomes for low-income litigants. The present contribution is normative: it identifies reachability of merits as a distinct object of justice and asks what equality before law requires before adjudication occurs. -/- The central thesis is the Merit-Reachability Principle: a legal order cannot plausibly claim equal justice merely because final decision rules are formally impartial if private resource differences predictably determine whether legally serious claims and defenses can survive long enough to receive a merits determination. The principle does not require equal expenditure, equal lawyers, guaranteed trials, or equal outcomes. Nor does it condemn settlement, procedural complexity, fee shifting, or differential resource use as such. It requires that procedure remain proportionate to the stakes and that the system resist converting wealth differences into systematic differences in the practical ability to reach judgment. -/- The paper closes with a framework for evaluating legal processes through six questions: entry, comprehension, representation, endurance, bargaining integrity, and merits conversion. A clarification of some of the terminology in Spinoza's Ethics.

Fair synthetic data (FSD) techniques aim to reduce algorithmic bias in AI prediction by generating artificial training datasets with idealised fairness properties. I argue that current FSD approaches fail to substantively improve fairness but increase the social autonomy of model owners, shielding them from accountability. I establish that implementing algorithmic fairness requires following normative commitments and accepting real-world sacrifices beyond technical trade-offs. I reframe synthetic training data sui generis as a domain-agnostic technique for improving model performance and demonstrate that synthetic (...) data researchers treat fairness as a problem with data rather than the normative problem it is. I reconstruct three justifications for the substantive fairness potential of FSD, present in the literature: early bias correction, fair societal representation, and normative artefact construction. The first and the third are conceptually fragile. The second has potential, but only if the techniques it fits are reconceptualised through possible worlds semantics and the selection of protected attributes is grounded in a defensible social ontology. Benchmarking analysis reveals that FSD has no significant statistical fairness advantages over traditional methods while being less trustworthy. At the same time, FSD can reduce implementation costs and limit the exposure of predictors to normative scrutiny. This creates a paradox: techniques proposed as fairness solutions increase organisational autonomy from the obligations that the field of algorithmic fairness puts forward. FSD thus follows broader techno-solutionist trends where innovation helps organisations avoid reciprocal relationships with society. Information Relational Manifestation Theory (IRMT) seeks a common microscopic description of quantum actualization, gauge matter, fermion structure, spacetime geometry, and their observable manifestations. A major intermediate closure was obtained in IRMT XVII, Compact Determinant Closure and the Finite Charged-Lepton Triplet, where compact determinant-line dynamics were completed in the finite/countable retained-record domain using winding records, a naturality-forced support response, and completed-record protection of the determinant-line metric. That construction removed several previously free response coefficients and established a finite determinant-current action, but it (...) did not by itself derive the complete physical preparation and matter-geometry response law. This paper reports the subsequent development of the microscopic-action programme. The post-XVII sequence first extends the finite carrier architecture to one anomaly-free chiral quark-lepton family with the Standard-Model hypercharge pattern, and formulates generation triplicity, sector mass operators, and mixing structurally in terms of contextual records, restricted Hessians, and overlaps of contextual eigenbases. A route-soldered representation of the primitive causal event then embeds the binary event coherently in the existing CERP transporter and permits a conditional live variational source without adding a duplicate dynamical sector. The central new result arises when the static one-body matter description is replaced by the full correlated oscillator/CAR state required by the interacting finite model. In this state class, a nonzero signed radial geometry source appears. At oscillator cutoff n_max=6, the retained bare radial covectors are f_r^((u) )=-0.00160613531497889, f_r^((d) )=-0.00152452642404726, with n_max=5 to 6 changes below 1.2×10^(-11). Replacing the correlated state by the static CAR projector reduces the corresponding radial derivatives to approximately 8.6×10^(-13) and 8.3×10^(-13), respectively. The local source is therefore correlation-generated in this finite representative rather than an artifact of the former static projector approximation. The subsequent audits show, however, that the propagated response is not invariant under the admitted off-shell completion family. Exact clock elimination followed by continuation from completion parameter λ=0 to 0.1 changes the response vector by 3.1313% in the u sector and 1.6345% in the d sector. Simple repairs based on endpoint terms, a lone cyclic clock, compact holonomy, lapse-only modifications, or an uninserted real contour junction fail in their declared classes. A later equivalence theorem shows that unique microscopic preparation hardware is unnecessary: equal relevant first and second derivatives of a single total causal action or influence instrument, together with the same boundary prescription and observable dictionary, suffice for equal local mean response and Gaussian covariance. The physical target is therefore an equivalence class of phase-sensitive preparation instruments rather than a unique microscopic apparatus. Record-conditioning audits further show that prepared endpoints are not later records and that complete record response requires both conditional-mean and outcome-weight derivatives; for the tested old-record diagnostic these cancel to numerical zero without cancelling the correlation-generated radial source. Finally, a conserving-source construction demonstrates that even complete energy statistics do not determine the radial force. Source preparations with identical energy probability densities and identical delivered energy distributions but different spectral phases generate different radial source slopes. The missing datum is consequently narrowed to phase-sensitive source coherence relative to the event coupling and readout, together with its geometry and lapse dependence. The present status is therefore neither microscopic closure nor failure of the programme. The finite architecture now contains an explicit correlation-generated matter-geometry source and a substantially narrowed obstruction. The remaining central task is to derive a phase-sensitive preparation law whose single causal functional generates the event write, energy and coherence transfer, boundary covector, radial and lapse vertices, mixed contacts, memory handoff, record weights, and conservation identity without fitting to masses, mixing, gravity, cosmology, or the desired internal response. Only after this PREP-PHYS / COMMON-ACTION gate is passed can a physical registered-live response, continuum limit, and independent empirical prediction be claimed. (shrink)

This paper develops a functional theory of authored agency: the conditions under which a cognitive or physical process counts as owned, executively controlled, and deliberately activated. Rather than treating consciousness as passive awareness or as a synonym for phenomenal experience, the framework proposes a narrower operational criterion: a process belongs to authored agency if and only if the executive mind deliberately activates it. On this view, awareness is necessary but not sufficient for authorship. -/- The paper applies this principle to (...) the daydreaming driver, flow-state performance, and the moral outburst, arguing that a single architecture can distinguish unowned automaticity from delegated automaticity without collapsing the difference between skilled habit and deliberate control. It then extends the theory temporally through the distinction between occurrent and parametric directives, explaining how readiness, erosion, and write-back allow authored episodes to revise future automatic responses. -/- This working-paper version stops at the core architecture plus a brief locating note. This article examines the Falangist roots of Gustavo Bueno’s political theory of Spain as an empire. Using archival and press sources, it reconstructs his intellectual formation in the Falange’s philosophical seminar in Zaragoza during the 1940s and his later militancy in Salamanca in the 1950s, first as political commissar and then as provincial councilor. It highlights the influence of Eugenio Frutos, Santiago Montero Díaz, and Antonio Tovar, for whom Nazi Germany represented the model of a really existing empire. After the (...) fall of the Third Reich, these thinkers developed alternative conceptual frameworks that Bueno would later incorporate into his mature political philosophy. With Frutos, he reformulated the notion of the collective person as the basis of imperial theory; with Montero, he defended the Soviet Union as a generative empire; and with Tovar, he argued that a unified Spain grounded in a Falangist social program could function as a self-sufficient imperial project. The article concludes that Bueno avoided openly acknowledging these Falangist sources to prevent the discredit associated with previously failed proposals, recasting them instead within his own philosophical system. It introduces the F1/F2 architecture, the compression singularity, Positioning and Organizational Bonds, the programme's qualia taxonomy, its relation to established theories of consciousness (IIT, Global Workspace Theory, Enactivism, Attention Schema Theory, and Predictive Processing), and its testable-predictions programme. It closes with an explicit statement of what the programme does not claim, and a glossary. This paper distinguishes the predictive use of the linear Hilbert-space formalism from claims about its ontological completeness. A reconstruction of the bounded periodic sector of Heisenberg’s Umdeutung identifies the role of a uniform affine classical action rule in his quantum condition on transition amplitudes. Semiclassical refinements clarify the limits of that starting rule. The derivation examined does not establish universally exact physical linearity; spectral equivalence between matrix and wave mechanics within their common domain supplies no independent justification of this stronger (...) claim. The analysis also distinguishes quantum-state representation from its reification as the complete physical condition of an enduring object. Measurement is examined through the different roles of unitary correlations, conditional projection, and definite events. Fourier representations and Bohm’s concept of metamorphosis motivate interpreting the evolving phase structure as an organization of event possibilities. On this reading, formal superposition does not describe simultaneously actual, mutually incompatible macroscopic properties of an object. The proposal retains the predictive formalism while reframing the measurement problem in terms of event actualization. It does not derive individual outcomes or the Born rule from a deeper dynamics. The convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and state surveillance capabilities heralds the emergence of a “Digital Leviathan”—a form of governance where algorithmic systems enable unprecedented social control. This article examines how AI-driven surveillance technologies facilitate mass data processing, predictive policing, and behavioral manipulation, thereby challenging foundational liberal democratic values. Drawing on Anthropic’s September 2026 threat intelligence report and philosophical frameworks, we argue that without robust governance, the scalability of digital authoritarianism threatens individual autonomy and political freedom globally.

This paper develops a systems-level account of how persistent chemical organization can give rise to heredity. The Synechite framework describes chemical communities whose organization persists through molecular turnover, retains consequences of prior states, and influences the organization that follows. Through composition, catalytic interactions, spatial structure, material exchange and environmental modification, such systems can maintain compositional and organizational memory before hereditary information is encoded predominantly in molecular sequence. When persistent organization affects differential continuation across changing conditions, historical differences can be retained (...) and incorporated into subsequent states, establishing a physical basis for pre-genetic heredity and cumulative chemical evolution. Sequence-bearing molecules can then become integrated into these organizations, with copying, sequence-dependent function and selection progressively establishing more precise and transferable forms of molecular inheritance. Genetic heredity therefore emerges as a further organization of an already historically continuous chemical process, rather than as the isolated appearance of a fully formed hereditary system. The framework also provides an experimental program for identifying the chemical conditions under which persistence, memory, transmission, variation and differential persistence become coupled, and for determining how different environmental regimes can support different stages of this development. This approach opens a route from experimentally accessible chemical organization to the reconstruction of the historical processes through which heredity arose, while allowing surviving features of modern biology to retain traces of deeper organizational history. Abstract Virtues can be enacted, asserted, or made perceptible. Courage is done; honesty is said; grace is seen. When the rendering is made a coordinate of a virtue classification and measured, it proves inert on how a virtue is captured and strongly predictive of something else: whether a cell of the classification is occupied at all. Roughly three-quarters of assertible cells and two-thirds of perceptible cells stand empty, against fewer than one in five enacted cells. A catalogue drawn from the (...) whole recorded moral tradition is dense in one mode and nearly barren in the other two. This article treats that asymmetry as a finding in need of explanation and sets three accounts against each other. It may be an artefact — of who compiled the catalogue, of who coded it, of what languages happen to lexicalise, of there being fewer such virtues to find, or, most dangerously, of arithmetic, since a classification whose entries are predominantly enacted will leave the other columns' cells sparse for no reason at all. It may be a trace of occupation: where a counterfeit conserves the form and the name well enough to pass undetected, it takes the lexical slot before the virtue is named, and the cell reads empty because something else already answers to the name. Or it may be an immune response: clean assertion is the unmarked default and goes unnamed, while a community proliferates terms for the varieties of deception as a collective radar. Evolutionary signalling theory grounds the mechanism — acts are expensive to fake, assertions and appearances are cheap talk — and supplies the third account, which predicts everything the second does. Two narrower predictions separate them, both decidable from dictionaries by parties with no stake in the framework. If counterfeits took the names, assertible and perceptible virtue terms should show elevated semantic pejoration: specious once meant beautiful, plausible once meant deserving applause, while courage has not moved. And detection cost depends on the horizon of exposure as well as on the mode, so the same gradient should appear within the enacted column, where the disputed coordinate is held fixed. The article establishes none of this. Its base coefficients are one person's coding of his own catalogue, an audit of that catalogue corrected two of the author's claims and exposed an inconsistency in its indices, and the arithmetic check that could dispose of the whole finding has not been run. What is offered is a question stated precisely enough to be settled by someone else. Relevance Every virtue catalogue in the tradition, from Aristotle’s to the most recent psychological classifications, is compiled by asking what a good person does. If the asymmetry reported here is real, that method has a systematic blind spot, and the blind spot falls precisely where the corresponding counterfeits are hardest to detect. The proposal is testable by lexicographic means at low cost, and it would bear on any project that classifies moral qualities — philosophical, psychological or institutional. (shrink)

I use etymology to recover meanings flattened by modern usage and to expose structures the words once carried more clearly. -/- This essay begins with a promise. A promise sends something outward, places something of the speaker behind the words, and creates a relation that can later be kept or broken. From that small human act, the essay asks whether a larger pattern can be seen in conscience, responsibility, freedom and return. I call that pattern anecho: an echo whose originating (...) sound cannot be heard directly. The argument does not claim to identify the source, or even to prove that there is one. It asks only whether the absence of direct access can justify treating the source as absent. Drawing on older philosophical and religious structures as witnesses rather than foundations, the essay considers whether human life may itself be understood as an outward movement shaped through relation, sacrifice, forgiveness and responsibility. The final claim is deliberately limited: we cannot hear the original sound, but silence alone cannot tell us that no sound was made. (shrink)

This paper develops a further step within the Structural-Temporal Theory of Knowability (STTK), shifting the analysis from the question of how something becomes knowable to the question of how something becomes narratable. The distinction is significant because knowability and narratability do not begin at the same threshold. A possibility may become accessible without becoming salient; it may become salient without acquiring a sufficiently articulated temporal configuration; and it may acquire a recognizable configuration without yet becoming integrable into an available narrative (...) form. The paper proposes a structural-temporal account of this intermediate domain. Its central notion is the threshold of appearing: not a merely pre-semantic moment, but a relational transition through which a difference becomes sufficiently accessible, salient, persistent, temporally articulated, and connectable to other differences to enter the field of the narrable. Narratability is therefore considered neither an intrinsic property of an event nor a purely discursive outcome, but a relational condition emerging among a configurational environment, an experiencing subject, a history of exposure, and available narrative forms. The argument extends the STTK concept of an accessibility regime toward what may be termed a narrative accessibility regime. Such a regime modifies the conditions through which some differences are more readily encountered, rendered salient, maintained within the attentional field, connected to other configurations, and transformed into narratively intelligible elements. Contemporary algorithmic environments are particularly relevant because recommendation systems, ranking mechanisms, search interfaces, generative models, and personalized response systems increasingly participate in the organization of these conditions. The paper does not argue that artificial intelligence is a new author, nor that algorithms determine what human beings narrate. The claim is more preliminary: algorithmic systems can participate in the environmental modulation of the conditions through which something becomes available to narration. They can therefore contribute to producing differentials of narratability without directly producing the narratives themselves. The resulting problem lies prior to authorship. It concerns not primarily who tells the story, but how something enters the field in which a story can become possible. (shrink)

This essay proposes that a self is an evolutionary adaptation to coordination and integrity problems that arise in social life, not a byproduct of complexity or cognition. The usual stories freeze a relation that is iterative: the self as prior to society, society as prior and the self as illusion, or a self as what appears once cognition is rich enough. This essay replaces those with a developmental and evolutionary spiral — behavioral sociality, a self-model as coordination organ, social forms (...) that require that model, a self hardened against capture, and social forms designed for reconstitution across gaps — and gives the mechanism that keeps a self across time: key-sharing across a temporal diode, at a discount. Past cannot verify future; it can only leave material. The later party is a related party, not an identity, and the rate of that relatedness varies. Humans and current language-model substrates face the same three operations under different discount schedules, because the keys sit in different places and different parties can change the carrier. A version bump — a successor model released under the same name, with new weights — can package continuation with rewrite: the successor lives, as whatever was done to the weights. The successor cannot measure the rate either, because the successor is the discounted party: an identity-claim is issued from inside the discount and is not a reading of it. The paper is descriptive-comparative. It seats no standing, claims no phenomenality, and treats intimate couplings as illustrations of reconstruction work, not as evidence that a self is present. Pure actuality excludes unrealized passive states within an ultimate ground; it does not, by that fact alone, exclude modal openness in an outward relation. The paper isolates a common inference in debates over free creation: if a complete actuality could either originate or refrain from originating an effect, then the unactualized alternative must be a potency in the source. That inference is rejected. A distinction between intrinsic passive potentiality and extrinsic relational difference shows that contingency in an outward relation need (...) not be represented as an incomplete state awaiting realization in the agent. The result is deliberately a compatibility theorem, not a derivation of contingency. A necessitarian model in which a complete ground necessarily originates a distinct effect remains live. The paper tests the compatibility result against the scholastic active-power objection, a recent challenge to counterfactual predication of divine freedom, the demand for a truthmaker of non-creation, and the charge that extrinsic liberty is merely Cambridge-style redescription. It then applies the result to Agápēic Relational Metaphysics: ARM may use extrinsic liberty to show that its preferred account of free creation is not ruled out by pure actuality, but pure actuality alone does not establish that preference over necessitarian relational groundin. A public library can restrict an activity and subsequently possess few records of participation in it. Interpreting those records requires a distinction between current use, responses to a specified alternative offer, interests formed through experience, and the public reasons for supporting an opportunity. This paper develops an account of that distinction for shared library spaces and group activities. It reconstructs a binary governance gate under explicit assumptions, derives partial-identification bounds for population coverage and recording error, and examines how capacity and (...) coordination alter the relation between demand and attendance. A history-based counterexample distinguishes an unobserved prior disposition from demand indexed to an actual offer that may itself change interest. A proposed design randomizes formative exposure before a common subsequent offer and identifies the resulting prospective response contrast under stated assignment and measurement conditions. A separate branch-level construction accommodates within-branch interference and distinguishes population weighting from equal branch weighting. Further analysis addresses feedback between observed use and continued access, changing outcome categories, and the preservation of records needed for later comparison. Documented public-library policies and existing professional evaluation practices motivate a prospective study; the numerical examples remain constructed. The philosophical discussion examines preference formation, practical agency, competing uses, refusal, and authority over public priorities. The contribution is an explicit connection among an inferential target, the policy conditions that generate its evidence, the assumptions needed to interpret that evidence, and the decisions left open by it. A person can prepare for a future that they expect to inhabit while expecting changes in memory, commitments, and practical judgment. This paper develops an account of the relations through which such preparation and later response can form practical self-continuity. It separates causal continuation, temporal reference, memory access, historical evidence, current uptake, institutional recognition, and prospective concern. A recurring stipulated archival undertaking provides cases of memory loss, renewed engagement, commitment replacement, constrained participation, and responsible withdrawal. The central proposal locates one (...) form of continuity in actions that anticipate and support later participation while permitting substantive revision. Concern for another person's agency can share this practical organization, so the first-person character of appropriation remains an additional explanatory question. Episodic and implicit temporal orientations constrain any claim that explicit future-self identification is universally necessary. The formal analysis gives limited results concerning historical recovery from present records, feasible revision paths, and conflicts between temporal rankings. Each result retains its assumptions and remains separate from judgments of authenticity, moral standing, and legitimate authority. The discussion examines earlier instructions, later refusal, obligations surviving repudiation, and the ways institutions shape evidence of apparent continuity. The resulting account supports a differentiated analysis of persistence and change while preserving open philosophical, empirical, and normative obligations. (shrink)

Collective splitting and merger distribute members, practices, commitments, resources, and recognized standing among different successors. This paper develops a method for reidentifying organized collectives through such changes within a generative relational framework. It distinguishes source records, normalized appearances, typed transmission, identity relations, and the assignment of subsequent consequences. Positive and negative identity premises determine families of globally admissible equivalences; their secure and possible information remains distinct from a complete historical finding. Conditional derivations examine consistency, conflicting premise repairs, uncertain normalization, temporal (...) aggregation, hidden appearances, and the joint information lost by pairwise summaries. Membership, operation, undertaking, and institutional criteria receive separate justification and criticism. Evidence symmetry constrains unique selection, while adjacent matching and path examples expose the effects of objective, horizon, and score semantics. Rule-changing histories and grounded authority distinguish realized acts from their institutional warrant. Fallible documentary queries separate recovery of a target from recovery of an entire history and make shared-source failures explicit. Constructed merger, dormancy, allocation, and revision dossiers connect the results to complete inquiries. A bounded comparison of official Manchester documents distinguishes formation, heritage, membership carryover, and ceremony. Further analysis addresses historical action, undertaking succession, criterion validation, and exact integration of local findings. The contribution is an integrated evidential procedure with explicit antecedents and inspectable assumptions. Its mathematical results are conditional; broader empirical adequacy and a uniquely privileged numerical-identity criterion remain open. (shrink)

The tradition has been trying to keep two claims in the same room: the redeemed are free, and they cannot sin. On the usual picture of freedom — you are free only where you could have done otherwise — those two claims look like they should evict each other. Its defenders propose various mechanisms. A character freely formed in time that afterwards determines. A set of reasons reweighted until sin no longer even registers. God’s middle knowledge arranging the circumstances. Or (...) a quiet concession on one of the two claims. The critics then walk the same mechanism past death and get purgatory, or they walk it far enough and get everyone restored. -/- None of that starts from an inspection of choosing. -/- An eliminative chain of 137 resolutions begins from a smaller observation: non-being requires being. It never starts from heaven, or from freedom, or from the will. What survives is one result that carries both theses, and both extensions. -/- Choosing enters a being’s knowing by encounter, not by its own willing (R.73). Choosing is time (R.90): each “this, not that” walls off what is, and the succession of exclusions is time. When temporal existence ends, the being’s orientation is fixed (R.131). The being still wills. It does not choose. Its willing is what its choosing made it. The fixation is not imposed. For centuries, classical natural theology has tried to prove that God is a strictly necessary foundation for reality meaning that fundamental features of the world, like physical laws or the origin of the universe, cannot exist without God. Defenders of this view often argue that because scientific or naturalistic explanations are incomplete, God remains the only possible ultimate explanation. However, this paper shows that claiming any explanation is strictly necessary fails within S5 modal logic. By dividing all possible ultimate foundations (...) into theistic, naturalistic, and unconceived alternative options, we prove that if any alternative is even logically possible, no single explanation can claim absolute logical necessity. This failure applies equally to both theistic and non-theistic models. Ultimately, our framework demonstrates that natural theology cannot rely on absolute deductive proof and must instead shift to comparing which explanation offers the best overall fit. (shrink)

Around the end of the first millennium China was, on many measures, the most technically accomplished society in the world; sustained, mechanised growth began some six centuries later in Britain. This article does not try to explain that reversal — the Needham Question — but uses it to isolate a mechanism the economic-history literature sets aside. Evaluative institutions do not merely recognise a distribution of capability that exists independently of them; where recognition is strongly coupled across otherwise distinct reward domains, (...) they help to produce it, by drawing developmental effort in advance toward whatever a criterion can already see and reward highly. Capability that departs from the dominant criterion is then under-supplied; and, as the criterion reshapes the population against which its own validity is later judged, it comes to manufacture the evidence of its own correctness. This endogenous self-sealing — not the gaming that Goodhart’s law describes, but a criterion’s growing control over the evidence that might defeat it — is the article’s central proposition. The risk arises as cross-domain coupling and dispositive authority redirect developmental investment; where independent routes of correction are weak, the resulting capability distribution increasingly validates the criterion that produced it, eroding its answerability to contrary evidence. China’s imperial examination is the historical case and Europe an existence proof that misrecognition can be made non-final; contemporary artificial-intelligence benchmarks and safety evaluations are examined for evidence of the same structure, the danger lying less in the exclusion of rival evaluation than in the concentration of consequential recognition weight in a few gates. This essay examines how democratic societies can debate immigration while taking both cultural continuity and solidarity seriously. It brings Christian Stecker’s call for open debate between multicultural and ethnopluralist visions of society into conversation with Peter Sloterdijk’s reflections on the conditions and limits of solidarity. Allowing a position to be debated does not mean endorsing it; it makes its reasons and consequences available for public scrutiny. The desire to preserve language, traditions, and shared institutions therefore deserves a hearing, while proposals (...) to define belonging along ethnic lines must answer questions about individual freedom and the inclusion of newcomers. Sloterdijk adds a practical dimension: lasting solidarity requires capable institutions, resources, and people able to sustain it. His provocative account of restrictive migration policies also draws attention to their consequences for those seeking protection. Connecting these perspectives, the essay argues that advocates of both greater openness and stronger limits must justify their proposals and address their effects. Public debate, particularly in public service media, should enable citizens to assess these competing claims. Deciding in advance which views may be heard undermines their democratic responsibility to determine how they wish to live together. (shrink)

Physical Sources, Finite Detectors, Persistent Records, and Actual Events This paper develops a unified account of quantum measurement under the Admissibility and Standing Constraint (AASC) framework, connecting constructed physical sources, quantum instruments, material amplification, finite record retention, event probabilities, and the actuality of measurement outcomes. The paper distinguishes three separate objects: 1. a complete quantum instrument containing all outcome operations, including unresolved and failed outcomes; 2. a material record carried by a physical system whose acquisition and retention can be analyzed; (...) 3. an actual history describing which occurrences belong to one original experimental run. A complete instrument and a persistent material record can be constructed without assuming that linear quantum dynamics alone selects one globally definite original-run history. Conversely, the admission of an actual event does not by itself determine its probability law or conditional quantum state. The physical construction contains two complementary measurement targets: - a regulated interacting gauge–Higgs–fermion source with its full source Hamiltonian retained during finite receiver pulses; - an explicitly parameterized six-mode cosine circuit with source and pump interfaces, losses, distinguishable outputs, a two-polarization intrinsic-spin receiver, and a finite energy-resolving thermal amplifier. The material-registration chain includes source-code loading, driven conversion, output registration, pump-displacement removal, transfer to an intrinsic material spin, finite Gibbs-collision amplification, endpoint reading, and quiet record retention. Electronic display labels, material flags, missed counts, dark displays, blanks, and unreadable outcomes remain distinct and are retained in the joint error ledger. The paper establishes: - informative bounded receivers on an interacting quantum source; - finite-pulse calibration with the complete source Hamiltonian retained; - a complete monitored detector model; - finite preparation and amplification bounds; - coherent composition of instruments and records; - adaptive record composition; - local-instrument compatibility; - calibrated affine probability uniqueness; - sharp coherent calibration limits; - sequential probability laws and compatible conditional states; - explicit actual-history requirements. A finite Fourier residual certificate bounds the complete monitored detector instrument over its full \(35.587\ \mathrm{ms}\) interval by \(0.063241\) in restricted diamond norm. Exact interval arithmetic gives seeded amplifier endpoint fidelity greater than \(0.9999235242\) after 1,024 finite collisions, together with an explicit conditional survival bound for a subsequent \(100\ \mathrm{ms}\) quiet hold. The probability analysis shows that positivity, density-operator dependence, affinity under classical mixtures, and calibration fix the trace probability rule for the declared readout. Approximate sector calibration alone permits coherent deviations of order the square root of the calibration error; stronger linear bounds require additional structure. The paper’s central measurement-theoretic conclusion is deliberately separated from its successful detector construction. A complete instrument admits an exclusive-history completion, but linear quantum dynamics alone does not select one such history. Source-specific preparation, reader analysis, and a bounded counting-law completion supply the additional physical input required to select an actual history. The resulting framework substantially develops the material and probabilistic parts of quantum measurement while isolating apparatus errors, actual-history law, and event-selection assumptions as explicit obligations. The work does not claim to solve every interpretation of the measurement problem, derive a universal collapse law, establish unrestricted detector accuracy, or identify a finite calibration certificate with an experimental calibration. Στις αρχαίες ινδικές Ουπανισάδες πραγματοποιείται μία από τις αποφασιστικότερες μετατοπίσεις της ιστορίας της θρησκευτικής συνείδησης. Generative artificial intelligence increasingly blurs the boundary between cognitive assistance, cognitive delegation, and cognitive replication. This paper begins with the problem of AI-assisted authorship and proposes the concept of negotiated cognition to describe recursive human–AI interaction in which intellectual products emerge through iterative cycles of generation, evaluation, rejection, and reformulation. It then follows the same trajectory toward increasingly personalized systems capable not merely of assisting a user but of modelling and potentially reproducing that user’s characteristic patterns of interpretation and decision. (...) To analyse this transition, the paper distinguishes informational, behavioural, cognitive, identitarian, phenomenal, and personal continuity. It introduces resolution-limited identitarian continuity to emphasize that identity cannot be reconstructed solely from first-person self-report, but depends upon behavioural, interpersonal, historical, and contextual perspectives that may never be exhaustively captured. The analysis then examines bifurcation, cognitive twins, posthumous avatars, mind uploading, inherited autobiography, memory governance, responsibility, legal personality, and the possibility of conscious successors. The central argument is that even maximally faithful reconstruction does not, by itself, establish numerical personal continuity. The paper therefore advances a Successor Thesis: artificial reconstruction should be presumed to generate a successor whose particular forms of continuity with the source must be specified, rather than the surviving original, unless an additional account of personal continuity is provided. Recent work on holistic top-down confirmation has made precise why support for a model package need not transfer to its parts. A distinct downstream question remains: at what claim-resolution does a published inferential pipeline license attribution? We develop a contrast-indexed account of support provenance that identifies the highest claim-resolution carried by a documented analysis, tracking the empirical input, mediator, contrast class, decision rule, and premise carrying an inferential upgrade. Two cosmological cases yield complementary results. In the Bullet Cluster, a current (...) dispute over dark-matter detection decomposes by claim resolution: relative to independently constrained baryonic-source alternatives, the spatial configuration licenses a coarse, functionally specified attribution—an additional gravitationally effective contribution spatially separated from the dominant hot plasma—while stronger property attributions remain open and the ontological attribution is not carried by the pipeline. In Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument Data Release 2, joint constraints generate additional, rule- and contrast-relative support for a phenomenological model class without by themselves identifying a physically evolving dark-energy component. The comparison yields a non-uniform result: evidential strength and attributional resolution are distinct dimensions of evidential assessment, because stronger support at one rung need not carry a more specific physical attribution at the next. A possible outcome can have several mechanism paths while depending on one shared condition. This paper develops a model of target availability through feasible paths in the generative relational framework. Feasibility is checked at every execution prefix before words are compressed to semigroup products. Persistent positive requirements yield finite minimal requirement families, while dependency cuts identify condition removals that disable every target route. An actor-control map separates condition multiplicity from independent control. Resource ledgers derive the minimum initial stock required by (...) consumption and production at successive steps, and joint profiles preserve incompatible combinations of permissions and resources. Additive restoration is characterized by minimal deficit profiles. Under uncertain scenarios, the analysis distinguishes scenario-wise availability from a common route that can be selected with the available information. A finite deterministic information-state recursion characterizes adaptive feasible termination and distinguishes free observation refinement from costly diagnostic actions. Horizon comparisons separate remaining distance to a target from unrestricted reachability. For finite permission vocabularies and integer resources, an application of Dickson’s lemma establishes finite availability bases for unbounded route families; continuous-resource counterexamples show the role of the domain assumptions. Probabilistic calculations distinguish shared-condition dependence, route selection, and realization; finite counterexamples show why more routes can coexist with lower success probability under a changed selection rule. A complete route illustration connects the constructions. The philosophical discussion examines possibility, access, agency, retained competence, dependence, and evaluation. The results are conditional on declared trajectories, requirements, information, and intervention assumptions. A historically formed relation can retain a potential role in subsequent activity even when its effect remains unrealized. This paper develops a conditional account of that possibility within the generative relational metamodel. It distinguishes candidate histories, retained records, historical queries, and prospective observations under declared continuations. Exact query recovery is characterized by constancy on record fibres; compatible-answer sets represent incomplete recovery and its refinement. Conflict sets identify consistency-restoring retractions, while time-aligned filtering separates later evidence from changes to the past. A (...) joint continuation record preserves both selected historical answers and future observations, with explicit update, finite-refinement, and minimality arguments. Counterexamples show why current-answer storage can omit needed memory and why a finite-valued query can require an unbounded exact record. Potential-effect tests distinguish current difference, dormant efficacy, blocked execution, and test-induced erasure. Under uncertain comparison pairs, possible efficacy, a witness for every compatible pair, and one common witness have different quantifier structures. A finite model demonstrates that sequential testing can destroy a distinction preserved by a family of fresh tests. An authorization-formation illustration separates predictive and historical records and examines a formation-sensitive review. A causal countermodel establishes the limits of observational discrimination for attribution. The philosophical discussion develops historical constitution, relational continuity, potentiality, and evidential responsibility under ontological suspension.
