I finally figured out my issue on the #PrusaLack project!

The first set of standoffs on the top table were sliding all over the place once screwed in, but going from a #12 to a #14 screw size solved it immediately.

Now I need to get my hands on a couple of wood drill bits to make room for the spool holders, and I might have this project done over the weekend 🤞

It appears there's absolutely no way to transfer photos/videos from an iPhone to another device simply over USB. You have to either be on a Mac, or be on Windows with a specific app installed. Linux? Nothing.

I've resorted to individually transferring videos to Proton Drive but man...there's gotta be a better way at this point. All I want to do is offload videos for more storage on my phone - why does it have to be a painful process?!

Lanterns Episode 1 was awesome - I’m so glad we’re finally getting good Green Lantern content outside of the comic books!

I’ve been using StoryGraph for a few years now and it’s an awesome tool with an awesome team backing it! As a free user I’ve ended up messaging them on social media for feature requests and Nadia always responds personally to any DM - while managing to push out frequent updates and improvements. My favorite feature is the monthly wrap-up graphics it generates, showing a calendar of the books you read and a collage of covers with your ratings attached.

I’m thinking about picking up a cheap speed cube and finally teaching myself to consistently solve a Rubik’s cube. I solved it once as a kid and then never really picked it back up again but think it’d be cool.

Anyone do speed cubing / general Rubik’s cube solving frequently and have any good resources for learning the basics of solving? Is the `GAN 356 RS’ a good option for a low-cost starter cube?

Is anyone using a task/project management platform at work that they really enjoy? Considering alternatives and curious what’s working well these days - everything I remembered from the past now seems to be more focused on AI integration than project management…

Saw a post on Reddit that AWS Billing estimates are very very broken right now and went to check my account 😂 They've at least acknowledged the issue with a warning at the top of the screen but my $20/mo bill is now reading as $50 billion USD month-to-date!

I got sad going through my bookmarks today and seeing how many dead links there were, so I tried setting up ArchiveBox on my laptop to save the ones that are still there.

Couldn’t get it to work, it would queue the scrape and then just hang until it timed out. Probably for the best - I have a feeling running that the amount I wanted to (I have 3k+ bookmarks) would get my IP blacklisted in a few different places…

#CasioCult - I’m looking for a watch recommendation and would love opinions on a Casio to get!

I used to wear an F91-W but wasn’t a fan of the strap, I tried replacing it with a NATO strap but messed it up and never looked back. I’d be down to try a strap replacement again though.

My main requirements are waterproof enough I can wear it to the pool, some kind of visibility in the dark, and easily switching between time zones somehow.

Any recommendations?

I'm looking for software to help me track budgets, income, and investments - preferably with automatic sync and tracking to some extent. I'm curious what folks here on Fedi use for this these days?

I've looked at Monarch but the price feels too high, YNAB looks interesting but their method seems confusing with credit card spend and savings accounts, and Simplifi looks interesting but...Quicken is themselves lol.

I've been using my work Macbook so much that as I'm trying to do searches on my Framework I keep hitting alt instead of ctrl...muscle memory forms quick.

Glad I didn't do that switch to Niri just yet - I think throwing even more hotkeys at me to control a laptop would break my brain, I already context switch enough.

I bit the bullet and ordered some of the pieces to start my #PrusaLACK build finally - I'll need to go pick up some screws from the hardware store and wait for those packages to arrive, but then I'll be able to start on ~90% of the build.

Basically just going to be missing a smoke detector, thermometer, and the Raspberry Pi for OctoPrint for this first round. All 3 are things that I can push down the line a bit I think, and won't be too hard to add in to "v2".

My goal is to finish the "v1" of this project in the next couple of weeks - mostly to get this box of printed parts that are awaiting installation freed up! Then I'll decide on the next project while I wait to order the remaining parts :D

While I wait a bit to order the last pieces for my 3D printer enclosure, I decided to pick up a Laravel project from a couple months back that needs some work.

I initially built the front-end logic and UI using Livewire and Flux UI, and now realize that I hate it…so today I started moving away from that structure to the classic component & standard Blade templating setup.

I also managed to go through and improve the docs a bit for my development setup, and in re-building a page I fixed an issue that had been bugging me for a while.

Quite a productive side project day! Tomorrow I need to fully focus my coding attention at work to a point I doubt I’ll want to write more afterwards, but I think I’ll probably put a good few hours into it over the long weekend! :)

I know everyone talks about the state of scrapers and the atrocity it's bringing on the internet, but here's a great example to put numbers behind it:

I just moved a domain over to Cloudflare for a site that no one should be touching right now. There are only a couple thousand people the site is relevant to, they're all in the US, and they aren't looking at it right now - I'm presumably the only human viewing it.

In the past 45 minutes since it was moved it's been hit with 1.5k requests, 70% coming from overseas, mostly hitting 4xx errors. It hasn't even been long enough for my laptop to accept the new nameserver and records I've thrown up and it's that bad.

Printing continues! I’m getting close to all the parts being printed for my LACK enclosure, but had to take a bit of a break as I was running into print failures that I didn’t have time to figure out.

Today’s print is the bottom table standoffs and attachments. After that, I’ve got about 4 more prints before I’ll have all of the printed parts completed and will be moving on to purchasing the additional hardware.
