Tracking publisher email changes

2025-04-02

We just launched a new feature to detect and track changes to extension publisher email addresses, introducing this as a new security risk signal because ownership transfers or account compromises indicated by such changes can precede malicious code injections. This tracking is incorporated into the platform's risk likelihood assessment, and users now have the option to receive alerts when a monitored extension's publisher email changes.

Additionally, Extension Guard will proactively alert users if any installed extension undergoes a recent publisher email change, enhancing visibility and providing earlier warnings about potential security threats.
