Hi all,

I've had a few instances of people contacting me about the site of xwinman.org

When I mirrored it, I did say as just that -- a mirror of the information, which is found here:

xteddy.org/xwinman/

I've no intention of letting that go.

But, it seems there's a few people who are disputing the legality of these pages. and/or, wishing to clone the content for themselves and "modernise the CSS".

This seems odd to me. and should not happen.

To this end, I've added the mirrored files of xwinman.org here:

codeberg.org/thomasadam/xwinma

... and want anyone to know that these are the official files from the original mirror.

I'm working on a cowbuttons editor. similar to what cowcontainers offers.

See screenshot attached.

What is CoW? It's a window manager using the River compositor. See:

Hi all,

Those of you (still) interested in might like to know that my implementation to integrate the kitty graphics protocol is mostly done -- or rather I think it ready enough for testing.

See: codeberg.org/opentmux/opentmux

Instructions are in the PR description as to however to enable kitty support.

Given, this, attaching a tmux session to a given terminal which support this protocol should allow you to do things like:

```
kitten icat ~/some/file.png
```

and see it appear in all its glory.

Please submit nay feedback on that PR as comments. I could do with as much testing as possible, please.

Thanks!

Figured out how to add windowshade (f.squeeze) and minimize (f.iconify) buttons to #ctwm on #NetBSD.

Fun stuff!

LeftTitleButton ":xpm:dot" = f.menu "titleops"
#RightTitleButton ":xpm:resize" = f.resize
RightTitleButton ":xpm:bar" = f.squeeze
RightTitleButton ":xpm:iconify" = f.iconify
RightTitleButton ":xpm:cross" = f.delete

@stuartl

Wow, that is Gnumeric! You are a brave person for using the spreadsheet!

I am a fan of spreadsheet generally. Gnumeric is lovely.

While rearranging the terrasse, I put two basins with peebles and rocks and water inside, on top of the wood sched. It looks like this is appreciated 😍

I've created Estuary, a new project for MacOS (26 and above) which is a loose-imagining of xquartz, but which work for wayland. Specifically, for the River compositor and hence window managers which are implemented for it.

See: codeberg.org/Estuary/estuary

Like, xquartz, estuary allows for a window manager to run and manage its own windows.

At the moment, only has been "ported" to MacOS so that it can run under Estuary.

It's meant as a bit of fun as for myself, I do most of my work from the terminal, so having a familiar environment on something like MacOS can be helpful.

Today, we have done two things. Make the Christmas Pudding, and pickled some onions in malt vinegar.

Both in time for Christmas.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned I was working on a container editor for CoW, using tcl/tk.

I've just merged this to `main`.

Use the `cowcontainers` command to launch the editor to create/edit container windows.

See the screenshot attached for what it looks like.

I suspect this could be a basis to extend this such that I could create a graphical editor for all of CoW (such as defining window decors, etc.)

To use it, you'll need at least Tcl/TK 8.6 and above.

What is CoW? It's a window manager for wayland using River as the compositor.

Any questions? Come see us on the `-wayland` IRC channel on libera.chat

Hi all,

I've released version 0.1 of wzoom, a xzoom clone, for wayland.

See:

codeberg.org/thomasadam/wzoom

For the 0.1 release, see:

codeberg.org/thomasadam/wzoom/

Dependencies are very light, so should be easily packaged by those who would like to do so.

Any questions, please do ask!

Hi all,

I've released version 0.1 of wteddy, a xteddy clone, for wayland.

See:

codeberg.org/thomasadam/wteddy

For the 0.1 release, see:

Dependencies are very light, so should be easily packaged by those who would like to do so.

Any questions, please do ask!

We have reached the 400€ mark of monthly recurring revenue from subscriptions for #Git hosting. Thanks everyone! :flan_flowers:

I've just pushed a series of commits to CoW (on the `main` branch) which refactor some internals, ensuring state management and shared-memory buffers are shared consistently between the users of them.

Although this change is an internal improvement, it has reduced the number of compiled components by about 20% -- hopefully that'll help older hardware, too!

On AI and the loss of skills.

I'm rather certain this was covered on the episode, "When The Bough Breaks" which happens to star the wonderful Jerry Hardin, of X-Files fame, amongst many others.

Hey all,

As it turns out, I suck at naming things. Just as well, I don't have any children as I'd likely called them Bob and Alice, were I to have a boy and a girl.

Anyway, the x11cp "project" is still going and I'm adding more applications as I see fit.

But since I launched it in ~2022, I think, I've always been told that the acronym/name sucks -- and I suppose I agree.

I've already asked this question in the `` IRC channel, but I thought I'd ask it here:

Does anyone have any suggestions for a better name?

I'm more than willing to change this properly and to buy a domain name for it -- hence, any suggestions might fit this restriction.

So let me know If you have any serious suggestions, and I'll entertain them!

For those who aren't familiar, the x11cp project's website is here:

x11cp.org

Hey all,

I've now added a few load/mem/cpu monitors, see:

x11cp.org/tags/load/

No doubt someone will find them useful!

What is x11cp? It's a project designed to keep older, smaller pieces of software alive:

Head's up, got-portable maintainers.

I've looked at repology.org regarding got-portable, which is a fairly good/accurate depiction of the versions of (in this case) got-portable is at, in different distributions.

Honestly, apart from and a few others, every other package is severely out of date.

I'm keen to understand why, to see if there's anything I can do to help.

I'm going to be emailing all maintainers of out-of-date packages, but beforeI do that, I thought I'd put this message out to see if it can initially reach some maintainers on here, so I can have a bit of a discussion before I send that email.

got moves quite quickly, so keeping up to date where possible is important. I know some distributions will be "locked" into a fixed cycle, but I know some of the packaged instances of got-portable exist on rolling-release distros, which are lacking.

Please share this where you can, and I'll be in touch soon to see how I can help, if at all.

I know life gets in the way and if that's all it is -- absolutely understandable. That must take priority. :)
