A new year's resolution

So let's make a resolution for 2026, that we the people, will demand that the social networking software we use get in tune with the web, and support two-way RSS.

I will help any and all to get this going.

I'm just like you, if you don't want your online world to be owned by billionaires.

I want this- and NOW -but the nearest thing i can see to a relatively frictionless solution is: (1) Beeper(.com) app as the "One inbox for all your chats," accompanied by (2) a RSS feed courtesy of this little hack whereby you configure a Matrix server bot (Matrix being the protocol on which Beeper runs) to output your Beeper feed as RSS.

I do have to wonder why, Beeper being an Automatic property, Matt didn't insist on baking RSS output into Beeper; i can only presume that it would undercut the "freemium" biz model of this fledgling product. So it goes!

Meanwhile: if there be some more elegant solution available to solve this immediate problem, i would love to hear about it!

I did suggest it a few months ago, it just hit me that Beeper and RSS would be explosive together. He will get it, he's just really busy. But it's a Matt-like thing to do. ;-)

Also feed reading and writing belong together, the closer the better.

I put an RSS reader right in my blog app, and I'm wondering - does that as "two-way RSS" or "inbound RSS"? Either way, it's awesome! @scripting you are exactly right when you say "feed reading and writing belong together, the closer the better" -- it is fantastic.

• blog writer == outbound RSS

that's the formula. you've built yourself a node on the social web.
