[Localization] Translation of components doesn't work with Angular 17

Describe the bug
Translation with Kendo UI for Angular components fails when using Angular 17. It seems that the issue is related to changes in the localize version as it works with Angular v16.

To Reproduce
Run the following app:

Archive.zip

Working Angular 16 project:

a16.zip

run command - ng serve --configuration=es

I just took a look at it.
The v16 version updated via ng update to v17 run fine.

The v17 project itself is a bit different as it uses the application builder (esbuild) instead of the webpack builder.

Same, I tried updating both the v17 version and the v16 to the latest (v17.1.2) and I think they are both working as intended.. unless I am missing something. @stnikolova

@alyssamichelle yes you are right, but you have the "old" builder with webpack, not vite+esbuild. It doesn't work with esbuild and vite.

@Julian-B90, indeed, the issue seems to be related with the new "application" build. We are tracking the following issues in the official Angular repository:

angular/angular-cli#26350
angular/angular-cli#27051

We hope to either receive some guidance that would help us resolve the issue on our end, or to get a fix at the framework level.

Meanwhile the only options seem to be to either upgrade an existing application using the "browser" build, or to modify the angular.json config accordingly in a newly created Angular 17 application.

It seems that the issue is present when using the Angular CLI "serve" command to serve the application. Building the app with ng build configuration="es" and serving it using another server, for example http-server seems to yield the expected result.

As the observed problem is not directly related to the Kendo UI for Angular source code, we are closing this thread. Any of the listed working alternatives can be used until the original issue in the Angular repo, linked in the previous post, is resolved.

How to run this application to switch the laguages??

Hi @kanishkAsharm,

run the command - ng serve --configuration=es or omit the --configuration=es for the default language (en).

Hi @stnikolova,
Unfortunately, running the command ng serve --configuration=es doesn't change Kendo's components language to Spanish.
Is there a workaround to make the localization work on Angular 17 with esbuild?
