A scalable model for nationwide digital transformation of PHC. It Improves core systems such as the PCN and CHU registries, interoperability between eCHIS and EMRs, and the TaifaCare dashboard. In partnership with the Digital Health Agency and Turkana County, Amref deployed the TaifaCare HMIS and built county-wide digital capacity, positioning Counties such as Turkana to become fully digital by January 2026.

Integrates Generative AI into Kenya’s community health system by piloting an AI-powered Reporting Assistant layered onto eCHIS. In partnership with Machakos County, the tool supports Community Health Assistants with clinical and managerial decision-making and enhances the quality and efficiency of community health reporting. This innovation demonstrates the potential of AI to strengthen PHC performance at scale.

An integrated MNH innovation package that strengthens diagnosis and use of lifesaving technologies, improves supply chain reliability, embeds structured mentorship and clinical governance, enhances referral systems, institutionalizes routine MPDSR, and expands access to safe blood – collectively improving readiness and quality of maternal and newborn care.

An advanced a suite of digital and AI-enabled innovations to strengthen maternal and newborn outcomes. These include rolling out the Uzazi Salama digital platform to enhance continuity of care, leading the digitalization of the national MPDSR process, and deploying AI-enabled obstetric POCUS to improve diagnostic capacity at facility level. Additionally, Amref is co-developing an AI predictive model for MNH outcomes to support proactive, data-driven decision-making.

An AI-powered Early Warning System that uses climate and vector data to predict malaria outbreaks, strengthening surveillance accuracy, timely response, and resilience to climate-driven transmission.

An applied precision public health approach that optimizes NTD programming reducing national schistosomiasis and STH medicine requirements by 62% through refined burden assessment, and mapping lymphatic filariasis clinical cases to direct resources to the highest-burden community units in the coastal region. This ensures more efficient allocation of commodities and targeted interventions toward elimination goal.

A digital enabler that supports timely decision-making and more effective service coordination across the care continuum. It strengthens continuity and accountability within PHC by enhancing referral pathways and improving real-time data visibility through eCHIS and KHIS verification and county PHC performance dashboards.

This innovation streamlines reporting, reduces turnaround time, and enhances continuity of critical oxygen supply. It also strengthens national logistics efficiency by developing and deploying a digital liquid oxygen ordering system now in use by 44 public health facilities with oxygen tanks.
