At the age of eighteen, directly after graduating high school, I ran off to Ireland where I stayed for six years (minus the two I spent in England). While overseas I also traveled to France, Switzerland, Scotland, and Wales. When I returned to the U.S. I ended up in a small Virginia town by the name of Berryville, where I volunteered at the library and the local archives and worked as the activity director at the town's assisted living facility. Everyone in Berryville knew my name, and for a recluse this was often jarring. More than once I crossed the street or sneaked out the back door of a shop in order to avoid socializing.

While in Ireland I worked as a collections assistant at the Natural History Museum in Dublin. I was responsible for cataloging the museum's massive collection of dead birds. All day long I sat in a large room filled with Victorian furniture and musty specimens, my desk peppered with seagull wings, cassowary bones, and mutant chicken skulls. It was the strangest job I have ever had.

Right now I am studying Psychology and working as an applied behavior therapist for two teenagers with autism. My family history undoubtedly had something to do with the decision to follow this path: autism, epilepsy, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and adhd are some of the diagnoses floating around in our gene pool. My own diagnoses are obsessive-compulsive disorder and tourette's. When we all get together it's a carnival of crazy!

I live with my beloved [personal profile] cat. We host regular public tea parties and sporadic private pillow fights. Both of these activities keep us sane for different reasons. We also collaborate on the following projects:
Machinebook: an internet "zine" that we distribute via floppy disk, with extras not found on the website.

BETRAYED! Zine: a traditional cut-paste-and-copy zine. You can find us at Baltimore's DIY Fest on May 9th, 2009. :)
If you feel like we would get along swimmingly, please add me. Despite my reclusive personality I love getting to know people, and many of today's closest friends were yesterday's internet acquaintances.
